Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to be, Judith Mae Zastrizny passed away peacefully on September 16, 2019 at 11:05 p.m with her daughter Darcilla Soanes and her sister-in-law Phyllis Zastrizny at her side at the Yorkton Sunrise Health Centre, Judy passed at the age of 65. On April 30, 1954 Judy was born to Oliver and Bella Hudyma, she was the youngest of four children. They lived on a farm in the Sheho area, but she took her schooling in Foam Lake. On May 5, 1973 Judy married Orest Zastrizny from th Sheho area in the Holy trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sheho. Orest and Judy settled on a farm south of Sheho to start their little family. On October 19, 1973 they welcomed their first born son Darcy. Five years later they had a daughter Dascilla of September 14, 1978. Two years later their youngest son Darren was born on September 14, 1980. While Orest worked for CP Rail, Judy stayed home as a homemaker looking after her children, the farm, animals, and nieces and nephews. In 1995 Judy ventured out into the workforce and started working at Sunnyland (Lilydale) poultry processing plant. In 2004 Judy and Orest moved to a house in the town of Sheho. In 2006 Judy retired from Sunnyland due to allergies. Judy belonged to various community associations in Sheho, from Ukrainian Dance Club, Legion #356, St Mary’s (South) Orthodox Church, and Sheho Town Council. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She was never too busy to sit and visit or just to have a cup of coffee and some conversation. She taught her children to respect everyone and that family is the most important thing. Judy was fun, loving, outgoing, and hardworking. She was always there to lend a helping and or to teach her children about their Ukrainian background. She was always patient with us when she was trying to show us how to make pirogies, cabbage rolls, rolling out dough, making Easter brad and a lot more Ukrainian traditions. She wanted to teach and we wanted to learn. She would always say that us kids would have to carry on the Ukrainian traditions, so we have to learn. She will be remembered for her generous, caring nature and her devotion to her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and her friends. Her for was always open for anyone that was willing to sit and visit. She loved nothing more than spending the day with family and friends gathered around her. She was especially delighted to hear that she was welcoming her first great grandchild in December of 2019. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Orest; her children Darcy (Corinna) of Theodore; Dascilla (Darren) Soanes of Yorkton; Darren (Wendy) of Theodore; grandchildren Rayne and Ryame Soanes of Yorkton.
