Obituary
Joseph Charles Vokali was born on May 7, 1947 in Lestock to Anne and Joseph Vokali. He grew up on the farm in Lestock and attended school there. Joe worked at the Credit Union in Lestock and took a move in June of 1971 to Stony Plain to become the Assistant Manager. While out for lunch Joe met the love of his life, Debbie, in August 1971 at Bing’s Café. They were married on March 30, 1973 in Stony Plain. After the wedding, they moved back to Lestock and Joe accepted a job as the Credit Union Manager of the Lestock Credit Union where he was able to work and run the farm with his brother Albert. Joe loved to hunt, fish and ski-doo. He loved sports, especially fastball and curling. He was a loyal Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. In 1987, the family moved to Wynyard. Joe worked as a Loans Officer at the Wynyard Credit Union and they commuted every week-end to Lestock to their farm. Joe retired from the Credit Union in 1996 after 31 years of service. In 1997, Joe and Debbie sold the farm and purchased a Ski-Doo dealership in Wadena. Joe treasured the relationships with their customers and enjoyed the conversations of tall tales from the old days and their current adventures. In the summer months, you would find Joe & Debbie at Barrier Lake where they camped, cooked over the fire and played many games of cards with their friends. In 2014, Joe made the decision to fully retire and close the Ski-Doo business. He was a competitive card player, and he loved a good game of Canasta. He always looked forward to playing cards with his sisters. The light in Joe’s life was spending time with his three granddaughters. One of his greatest joys was to sneak treats for them … and himself. Joe leaves to mourn his loving wife, Debbie, Daughter: Lisa (Dwayne) Peters, Children: Talia and Annika. Son: Jason Vokali, Daughter: Michelle (Chad) Szymesko, Children: Alayna. Sisters: Elizabeth Blaskovich, Agnes Sich, Anne (Gordon) Sich and Sister-in-Law, Lorraine Vokali and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Joe was pre-deceased by his parents, his brother Albert Vokali and his Brother-in-Law, Joe Sich. Nephews, Mark Labas, Ken Sich and Keith Sich. Donations in memory of Joe may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
