Obituary
John Stacheruk was born March 8, 1934, on the family farm in the R.M of Hazel Dell. The oldest son of George and Polly Stacheruk. John attended Silver Spring School. He quit school at an early age to help on the farm. John enjoyed farming, especially his charolais cattle, which he took great pride in. He farmed in both R.M. of Hazel Dell and Invermay. His brother Sidney, also helped out. In 1962, he purchased land in Invermay. R.M., built a house, and moved his parents to town. John enjoyed playing softball, golfing, camping, fishing, big game hunting, touring the country side, and BBQing a good steaks along with a good shot of whiskey. Three of his nieces, Betty, Gladys, and Carol, also said he was their favorite uncle, because when they came to the farm for the holidays he’d spoil them with hay rides, truck rides, tractor rides, candies and goodies. John was a quiet, gentle man with a good sense of humor. He always wore his hat tilted to the right side. He will always be remembered by those who knew him, a good friend and neighbor. John married Betty Byblow in November 1982. John acquired two step-daughters with this marriage. Betty passed away in 1990. In 2000, John and Martha Birrell attended a dance in Yorkton together. They enjoyed each other's company and attended many dances together. John and Martha were companions for the last 20 years, the last 5 he spent in the nursing home when his level of care required more than was able to be provided in his own home. John and Martha continued to enjoy each other 's company over the last 5 years. John was predeceased by his parents George and Polly; sister Ann; brother Sidney; wife Elizabeth and Martha's grandson Matthew Barteski. He leaves to mourn his brother Mike; sisters Alice, Irene, and Mary; step daughters Barb, Cheryl and their families; many nieces, and nephews; and a special partner Martha Birrell and her children; Sheila, Cathy & Curtis, and four grandchildren. 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020 A Private Family Funeral Service will be held Due to COVID-19 Funeral Service will be live streamed Narfason’s Funeral Chapel & Crematorium’s Facebook Page.
