Launa Simpson passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018. To all who were fortunate enough to know her, she was a unique and caring soul who touched the lives of all she encountered. Launa was the daughter of Bob Bildfell and Donalda Salmon, she was born on November 20, 1970 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She attended both Elementary and High School in Foam Lake. Following graduation from High School, she was enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at Wascana Institute. After obtaining her degree she moved back to Foam Lake and throughout her career she was employed at Foam Lake Hospital, Yorkton Hospital, Foam Lake Jubilee Nursing Home, and Foam Lake Pharmacy. Launa started dating the love of her life, Kevin Simpson, while in High School. They dated for 5 years and were married on June 22, 1991. They were blessed with three boys; Travis, Tanner, and Kasey. Launa portrayed daily the importance of family, and friends; her door was always open, coffee was always on in the morning, campfires burning to the wee hours of the morning. She was a social butterfly, but also needed alone time to kayak, read, do yoga, and garden. Launa’s love of travel took her to several destinations around the world including Africa, South East Asia, and the Caribbean. However, her repeated visits to Jamaica to spend time with Kevin were her absolute favourite. If you have ever had the chance to meet Launa’s three boys, they are a testament to the fact that her cooking was incredible. She loved experimenting with different dishes, that she had the opportunity to sample all over the world, and sharing those with anyone who walked through her door. Launa displayed strength and grace in every facet of her life. No matter what challenges or adversity she faced, Launa met them with courage and dealt with them like a warrior. No matter where in the world she was, Launa’s positive vibes attracted people to her. Launa was like the flame, and the rest of us simply moths. Left to continue to share the memories of Launa’s life; husband, Kevin; sons, Travis, Tanner, and Kasey; mother, Donalda (Jack) Salmon; father, Bob (Linda) Bildfell; brothers, Kim (Sharon) Bildfell, Jared (Maya) Bildfell; mother-in-law, Clara Simpson; sisters-in-law, Correen (Robert) Smith; Sue Simpson; nieces, nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
