Kristjan Marvin Arnason was born at Kristnes, Saskatchewan, just outside Foam Lake, on April 20, 1925 to Kristjan and Mary Arnason and went to rest in peace on September 25, 2013. He was raised between Kristnes, Winnipegosis, Edfield, and Foam Lake in a big loving family of eight. He never went to war as World War II ended right after he enlisted. Kris worked hard at a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime whether it was in a grain terminal, mining, farming, painting, or barbering. From Vancouver to Thunder Bay, he always gave it his all no matter if he was working or just lending someone a helping hand. Kris married the love of his life, Dorothy Lillian Bray in 1956. They were an amazing example of a loving couple that showed us love and respect for your soul mate, a true partnership for life. The majority of their 57 years of married life was spent in Foam Lake where Kris and Dorothy lovingly raised their children, Bethalynn (Rusty) Rusch - Krista; Samantha, Kerry (Manny Rieger)- Marc, Mary Dawn (Dale) MacFarlane - Jeremy; Jay, Ashley (Ethan); Stevie, Kris (Sarah), Laurel Arnason Jones - Jessica (Josh), Dionne (Adam), Kaitlyn, Bobbi-Lee, Colleen McKillop (Wayne Horn) - Alyse (Andrew); Georgia, Dawson, Cody (Candice) Abrielle, Logan (Kailey), Meghan, Colton, and numerous foster children. As an avid community member, Kris spent many years as a Mason and with the Eastern Star in various offices; his favourite being the chaplain, as a church member and a tenor singer in the choir, curling club member, and Chamber of Commerce member. He was a man with music in his soul and the legacy is carried on in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as music is a part of their daily lives. All the children always loved the Candy Man, where else could you get your hair cut for a quarter and get money back for treats! He had a loving caring pleasant way about him whether you were a child, dog, or horse, everybody loved the way he treated them, as if they were someone special, so easy to be inspired by his example! He was a kind and memorable force of life where ever he went and he will be sadly missed and cherished by many. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and their family, his sister and brother-in law; Alice, Art Ross and family, his brother and sister-in-law; Hardy, Bernice Arnason and family, sister-in-law; Anne and family, niece Carol and family, his brothers-in-law; Lorne and family, Donald and family, Harold, Barb and family, Ross, May and family, and sisters-in-law; Lois Steele and family, Maryann Bray and family, plus all his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who all were his favourites! He was predeceased by his dad, mother, brothers; Kris, Oli, Walter, and Paul, sister, Elma, as well as Dorothys parents; Percy and Myrtle, and, sisters in law; Marge, Alameda, Verna, Ruth and Frances, and brother-in-laws; Lloyd and Randall. A beautiful life came to an end He died as he lived; everyone's friend He was loving, thoughtful and kind What a precious memory he left behind Treasure him God, in your garden at rest For in our world he was one of the best His affection made us feel like we were the special ones His support made us feel like we could reach the stars His example taught us how to live life graciously and honestly And his love will be with us forever Thank You Dad for all you taught us! May Your Ancestors Welcome You Into Their Loving Arms, ga ntt!
