Obituary
Funeral Service 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 The Chapel of Narfason's Narfason's Funeral Chapel 102, 1st Street N.W. Wadena, Saskatchewan Irene Erna Weinmaster was born November 23, 1923 in a log cabin on the family farm of her parents Alex and Molly Weinmaster near Rhein, Sk. Irene was the second child and first daughter out of a family of six. She took her schooling at Rhein and Clyde schools, her goal was to become a school teacher, but due to the tough economic times she was unable to finish high school let alone take teacher training. Irene worked at various jobs in Western Canada, before marrying Chester Hallman in 1951 and moving out to the Hallman family farm at Acadia Valley, Alberta. Five children were born to this union. When the marriage failed in 1962, she and her children moved back to her parents home, who now lived in a new house at Dunleith. As a single parent, her main concern was to be there for her children. So she took a job as a cook and house keeper for Harry Kullberg of Nora, SK, where she finished raising her family. Irene was a hard worker and always went the extra mile, growing a large garden, raising chickens, picking berries, etc. In 1973, Harry sold his farm and he and Irene were married. They spent their first year in Quill Lake, then moved to Humboldt, where they built a new house in which they lived happily for 32 years. Irene was active in the Humboldt Bible Church, where she taught Sunday School and Kids Club after school. In 2006, due to failing health they were forced to sell their house and move to the Humboldt Villa, where they could get more care. After some moving around Irene got a permanent place in Wadena at Pleasantview Care Home, where she got admiral care until her passing on August 24, 2018. Her son Herbert and daughter-in-law Colleen were nearby to help when it was required. Irene was predeceased by infant son Ronald Allen; husband Harry; her parents Alex and Molly; brothers Allan, Stanley and Arnold; sisters-in-law Sally and Linda; and brother-in-law Bob. Irene is survived by sons Herbert (Colleen) of Fosston,SK, and David (Claude) of Ottawa, ON; daughters Ruth (Les) of Qualicum Beach, BC, and Lynette (Horst) of Camrose, AB; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brother Milbert (Sybil); sister Marlene (Matt); many nieces and nephews; as well as Harry’s nieces and nephew. May God bless her memory!
