Harry Bashutsky was number 10 of 12 children born to Michael and Mary (nee Popadynetz). He was born on Feb. 12, 1932 on a farm next to Round Hills School, where he got his education. In 1952 when mom and dad moved to town, Harry and Joe were farming together for 3 years. After Joe and Olga got married, Harry moved to live with mom in town. His work with pipeline and later with telephone took him to many different places in Saskatchewan. Later he got a job at John Deere, working with Donne Sundquist he gained valuable experience. Joe relates that his combine had a breakdown at 12:30 a.m., he called Harry, by 2:30 a.m. he was up and running. Harry's last job was with the Town of Wynyard, from which he retired. Around the year 1974 Harry met Ann Romano. In Sept., 1978 they moved to the new farm house. Harry was a very important male figure to Rita and Myles during their childhood years. Sadly Anne passed away in 1992. Harry had many good qualities. He was kind, considerate, generous with his gardening - and determined, yes. One time there was tight space between a pile of boards and a granary for his tractor and cultivator to go through. Jody said there was no way - Harry's response was "Just watch me!" - result - boards flying everywhere. Family was very important to Harry. He made an effort to attend most of family events wherever, Toronto, Cutknife, Edmonton. Harry had many hobbies - gardening was his favorite - he mostly used his own seeds, Harry had a title "the garlic man". He enjoyed cooking, he had his own chickens and all organic vegetables, enjoyed eating at home. Auction sales took him to various parts of Saskatchewan and Alberta. Playing Kaiser or 3-spot was a life-time past-time. Recently going for coffee 'was a must' and playing solitaire took care of the evening. Harry was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary; brothers Steve and John; sisters Rosie Shular, Jennie Nolan and Caroline Woynarski. Left to cherish Harry's memory and celebrate his life are sisters Anne, Sophie, Mary, Kay, Irene and brother Joe.
