Obituary
Roger Joseph Thevenot was born on August 05, 1947 to Joffre and Aline Thevenot at Watson Hospital, Watson, Saskatchewan. He was the second oldest of four boys. Roger was raised on a farm 2 miles west of St. Front, Sask. He attended school in St. Front until the 8th grade. At the age of 15, he didn’t like school and they didn’t push him to go back. It worked out good for his parents because they needed a spare hand on the farm and Roger was a tremendous help. In 1969/70 he spent two winters in Thompson, Manitoba working at the Nickel mine. Roger started farming in 1969. In 1971, he began mixed farming on his own and later strictly grain farmed until 2004. Roger was a hard worker and a self taught Mechanic. Roger worked at the Beaver Lumber Yard during the winter months from 1986-1988 and from 1988-1990 was a Salesman for Oil Check Lab Analysis out of Airdrie, Alberta. To diversify from farming, Roger and Paulette constructed a Meatshop on the farm in 2000-2001. This business grew to servicing seven local stores, including Black Thunder Bison out of Quill Lake for 5 years, Echo Lake Game Farm from Archerwill for 8 years and supplied Tireman Fresh Produce Center for 5 years. Roger designed the package logo consisting of a Kings Crown saying ‘Taking You Back to That Old Country Taste’. Together they won many sausage awards with Sask. Meat Processors Ass. of Saskatoon and at Canadian Western Agribition in Regina. Roger was very particular and proud of his work. As a young man, Roger enjoyed sports and hobbies, was a pitcher in the soft ball league, curling in surrounding areas, fishing, avid bird and big game hunter, building and flying his model air planes and working on his 1959 Ford Edsel. Roger loved music and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. With his great voice he sang a song for his parents 25th anniversary, that he wrote himself. Roger was active in the community as President at the St. Front Curling Rink during the construction of the new curling rink in 1976. He volunteered many years on the Board of Directors in the church with Leadership, as well as with the first two Homecomings. Roger met his wife Paulette at the famous Coach-in-3 in Melfort. He thanked God for sending him his true soul mate. Roger and Paulette were married on June 30th in Saskatoon, and were blessed with 46 1/2 years together. Roger and Paulette were blessed with two adopted children; Steven and Lynn. Roger’s pride and joy are his grandchildren and he loved them dearly. Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife Paulette (Drews) of St. Front; Son Steven (Kara) Thevenot of Prince Albert, grandsons Logan Kreutzwieser of Saskatoon and Kaden Thevenot; daughter Lynn (Dean) Murray and grandchildren Declan and Makayla Murray of Sylvania. He is survived by his two brothers Norman (Annette) and Philippe (Fran) Thevenot, and one 1/2 sister Emma (Gilles) Chiasson and several nieces and nephews as well as numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Joffre and Aline Thevenot, 1/2 sister Priscilla (Bussiere) and brother Leo Thevenot.
