Obituary
Orval Kenneth Ziola was born on Feb. 20th, 1933 in the Wadena Hospital to Leo and Lucy (Rediger) Ziola. He was the fourth of six children with siblings Eva, Hughie, Leonard, Gloria and Lorna. He also had two older brothers who died in infancy. He grew up on the family farm eight miles north of Margo. He attended Robertson School until he finished Grade 8, then started farming full time with his dad. He met his wife Lilian Belcheff (daughter of Mike and Mary Belcheff of Kuroki) at a dance at the Czech Hall, asked her out for supper, and the courtship started. After three years, Orval asked Lilian to marry him, and they were engaged in June of 1955. They then married on Oct. 16th, 1955 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (in the country), north of Margo. Orval continued to farm with his dad, Leo, until 1963 when Leo and Lucy moved to the outskirts of Margo and eventually retired. In 1957, their first child, Bradley, was born. Their second son, Kerry, followed two years later in 1959. In 1962, they had their first daughter, Kelly, followed by their second daughter, Leanne, in 1965. Their family was finally complete with the birth of their last son Michaner in 1967. Orval started out grain and livestock farming with pigs, chickens, turkeys, milk cows, sheep and goats. His farm business developed into OK Feedlot with 200 steers with OK (Orval Kenneth) being his signature business name. In 1975, Orval decided to give up actively farming, and he branch off into new unchartered business waters. He rented out his land and opened his business called OK Sales and Service consisting of a tire shop, selling farm machinery tires and other farming supplies and services on the family farm. Orval had many businesses under the name of OK Enterprises including grain and livestock farming, an agricultural shop on the farm, a Sears mail order store, a restaurant, an Emu farm, an alternate health products business with emu oil and essential oils, and from his early seventies to the present, an eBay business selling sports cards, comics and other collectables. In 2004, Orval and Lilian had an auction sale on the farm and built a new home in Wadena, moving there in Jan. of 2006. They have lived in this home since then. Orval was a life-long learner. He loved learning new things and would spend hours upon hours at his computer researching and reading up on new things. He was very knowledgeable on many, many topics including politics and loved to share his knowledge with others. He was innovative and was not scared to try something new. In fact, if people said he couldn’t do something, it just gave him more fuel to get it done. Orval was an active member of the Margo Silver Threads and enjoyed playing cards with his friends there and at the Wadena Drop-In Centre. He loved to socialize and get to know people, often taking the role of the jokester with his one-liners and jokes. He loved to attend trade shows and meet people from all walks of life, while at the same time, offering his health products for sale to help others. Orval had many major health events throughout his life, but he just kept persevering. His health and mobility challenges led him to be housebound a lot, but he always kept moving forward regardless of the situation. Through this all, he greatly enjoyed visits form his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to brighten his days. And, he was extremely proud of them all in their many achievements and accomplishments. Orval leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 64 years, Lilian, his sisters Gloria Robbins and Lorna Heistad, his children Bradley, Kerry, Kelly (Gene), Leanne (Rob), and Michaner. He has 14 grandchildren: Clayton, Lanny, Laci (Zach), Leah (Chad), Lukas (Kristy); Brent, Hiedi (Matt), Heather (Grant); Brandon (Marcy), Dustin (Katie), Tanner; Ryder, Reese, Lorenne; and his 14 great-grandchildren: Helena, Elodie, Bjorn; Molly, Jaxon; Luke, Owen, Julie; Ben, Oliver, Ivy; Dawson, Berkley; and Olivia. Orval passed away in Wadena Hospital, with his loving wife by his side. Even though it was unexpected, and his family and friends will mourn his passing, they know “Everything Will Be OK.” Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Wadena Community Legion Hall Wadena, Saskatchewan
