Obituary
Phyllis Malinowski (Danchuk) was born January 4, 1935 to Nick and Sophie (Shewchuk) Danchuk on their family farm in the Round Plains District. She passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle, with her family by her side, on September 7, 2014 at the Regina General Hospital. Phyllis will be sadly missed by her loving husband Victor; son Kenny (Heather, Tyler, Nicole, Amy), son Kevin (Donna, Kayla, Trinton), daughter Karen Popadynec (Dave, April, Eric, Allison, Justin), daughter Karla McLennan (Sam, Faith), daughter Koralee Nichol (James, Taylor, Emma, Ava). By her brothers Bill, Mike (Olga), sister Margaret Hopkins, sisters-in-law Betty Danchuk, Angela Zemlak, Elsie Malinowski, Doreen Malinowski, brother-in-law Alfred (Josie) Malinowski, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Nick (1975), Sophie (1940), sons Dwaine (1964), Kory (1970), brother Harold (1996), sisters Irene (1997), Beatrice (2003), Lillian (2004), and Olive (2013), and brothers-in-law Howard Nelson, Sandy Wolitski, and Jim Hopkins. Phyllis grew up on the Danchuk family farm in the Round Plains District where she attended school. With a grade 10 education she entered the work force where she worked at Laura's Cafe. Mom got the travel bug and decided to travel and worked in Prince Rupert BC, and Calgary AB. She then decided to return to Wynyard and worked at Sing's store. She met the love of her life and got married in 1960. They moved to their own homestead where they raised their family of 7 children. Life wasn't always easy with the loss of 2 children. With the loss of their first child, Dwaine, they found the strength to carry on, and heartache struck again in 1970 with the loss of Kory. With mom and dad getting up in age and mom's failing health they decided to leave the family farm after 53 years and moved to Wynyard into their condo. It was a big adjustment, but once settled mom said "this is the life". Mom enjoyed farming, visiting, playing cards, making wonderful meals, gardening, and most of all spending time with family. Mom cherished all gifts given by her grandchildren no matter what it was especially if it was handmade and kept it all and proudly showed it off. She was the strongest, toughest woman we knew. Mom had an amazing quiet nature, a great sense of humour, and love beyond measure. We are very proud to call her our wife, mom, grandma, and friend. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She will be sadly missed by all. Mom lived, laughed, loved and was loved by all. May she rest in peace. Funeral Service: Saturday, Sept. 13 at 11:00 a.m. St. Mary's R.C.
