Obituary
Brenda Zemlak It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brenda Merele Zemlak who was born March 13, 1960, within the Lestock hospital to Fred and Mary Yewsuk. Life began for Brenda on the Yewsuk family farm located in the R.M. of Emerald surrounded by the touchwood hills near Lestock Saskatchewan. She attended Lestock public Schooling until the age of 18 when she then moved away to begin employment at Great Western Garment Ltd. where she assisted producing denim clothing in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Upon the ceasing of operations at GWG Brenda relocated to Wynyard Saskatchewan where she worked in the local pub, grocery store and later began her career at what is now known as the Sofina Foods Hatchery where she was employed until her passing on July 21, 2021. During Brenda’s earlier years, she spent her childhood on the bustling family farm assisting with many tasks that came with being a successful grain and livestock operation. She was surrounded by her parents and five siblings throughout life on the homestead. It is said that some of her fondest memories as a young child were waking up as early as possible to rush outside in her pajamas in order to catch a few minutes of play in the sandbox with the family dog by her side prior to starting a day’s work. Brenda married the love of her life Michael Peter Zemlak on August 8, 1987, at the Yewsuk farmstead. The two initially met in Wynyard SK, where they continued to reside in the household, she and her brother built from the ground up. As a new chapter of life opened Brenda and Michael brought two children into their lives, Monty and Meghan. Throughout the course of their lives together Brenda and Michael were rarely seen apart from one another. Brenda was known for her strong-willed, tenacious and supportive personality and this was evident while raising her family. Brenda had a strong passion for making everyone in her life feel content. This was accomplished in many ways, whether it was a conversation that took place, a heartfelt hug, or her cooking/catering skills provided, she was always there for anyone in need. Honesty and integrity were at the forefront of every aspect of her existence. As time went on Brenda took each moment in stride and enjoyed absolutely everything to the fullest. In 2018 she found her truest, deepest passion in life, being a grandmother. Brenda is predeceased by her father Fred and Sister Debra. She leaves to celebrate her life; grandchildren Rae, Nolan and Landon, children Monty (Charly) Zemlak and Meghan (Joel) Prosko, husband Michael, Mother Mary, sisters Janice (Kent) and Shelley (Lee), brothers Nick (Sherry) and Garnet (Shirley), nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends. Brenda always had a genius capability of remembering everyone’s birthday, anniversary and an array of small details of others’ lives that were shared with her. As we say goodbye for now, we know she will truly be missed and remembered by all due to the positive impact she had on each and every one of us.
