Obituary
Phyllis Marguerite was born on July 31, 1929, in Big Valley, Alberta. She was the third of six children. At a young age they moved to a farm near Sangudo, Alberta. Phyllis was very athletic and excelled at women's fastball and hockey. In her later teens she worked in the Mayerthorpe Hospital, in Mayerthorpe, Alberta. She then went to Edmonton and worked at Canada Packers and later what was then the University Hospital. In these years she met and married Gordon Larson who was working for CN Telecommunications. They were married in Japer Place United Church in Edmonton. To this union four children were born; Sharon, Ronald, Sandra, and Cindy. They lived in many places before settling in Fosston; Edson, AB, Edmonton, AB, Destruction Bay, YK, Blue River, B.C, and Melville, SK. While in Melville she worked in the St. Paul Lutheran Nursing Home for eight and a half years. They moved to Fosston in 1975 to farm. She spent many hours on the tractor helping with the farming, farming was her passion; she hauled grain, drove the tractor, picked stones, raised chickens, pigs, cows, patched up holes in the graineries, in other words, she was Gordon's right hand man and partner. Phyllis was very involved in the Elim Evangelical Free Church, and organizations such as the curling rink, Rec board, Fosston Ladies Community Club, and the Senior Citizens. Phyllis loved tending to her flower beds, and yard. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-granchildren. She found enjoyment in her many hobbies which included making 100's of quilts and sweaters for family and extended family, all created with love. Phyllis had a fantastic memory, she always remembered her family and friends birthdays. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Gordon; son, Ronald; parents, William and Dorothy Brown; in-laws, Selmer & Olga Larson; sisters, Kathleen Chadd; Margaret Parie; brother, Glen Brown; brothers-in-law, Leonard Kupsch; Howard Chadd; Clovis Parie; Marvin Larson; nephew, Zene Chadd; nephew, Allard Parie. Phyllis will be remembered by daughters, Sharon Larson; Sandra (Craig) Lester; Cindy (Rick) Derksen; eleven grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren; sister, Noreen Kupsch; brother, Ronald (Trudy) Brown.
