Prayers for Annie Melnychuk was held on Wednesday, January 16th, in the Narfason's Funeral Chapel, Foam Lake, SK at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass for Annie Melnychuk was held on Thursday, January 17th, at 10:00 a.m. in the Foam Lake Ukrainian Orthodox Church Internment to follow in the Melnychuk Cemetery. Donations may be made in Annie's memory to the St. Peter & Paul's Ukrainian Orthodox Melnychuk Church. Please leave online condolences for the family via this website. Annie was born April 1st, 1912 to Wasyl & Helen Karmaznuik in the Sheho district. She married Fred Melynchuk on November 14th, 1934. Annie and Fred farmed south of Tuffnell until the fall of 1967, when they moved to Foam Lake. Annie was a hard worker and endured many hardships. Growing huge gardens and beautiful flowers were her passion. Annie loved cooking and catered for many family occasions. She will be remembered for her famous Nachinka, Dushinena and Mashed Beans. Annie was gifted with the artistic ability of decorating Ukrainian Easter eggs. She was very dedicated to celebrating Christmas & Easter with her family. Every holiday had meaning and Sunday was a day of rest. She enjoyed many visits with her family and especially her grandchildren. Annie was a long time member of the Sts. Peter and Paul (Melnychuk) Church and was able to visit the church on its 100th Anniversary Celebration to see the restoration of the church. Annie also enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends. She had many good luck superstitions and was determined that she was going to win and usually did. She enjoyed her life in Foam Lake surrounded by family and many good friends. Annie took great pride in her work at the local RCMP detachment, where she was employed from 1972 - 1983. In September, 1999, Annie moved to Clements Court in Yorkton and established a new circle of friends. Later as life got a little more challenging, she moved to the nursing home and resided there until her passing on Saturday, January 12th, 2013, at the age of 100. Annie was predeceased by her parents; husband Fred in 1983; all her brothers and sisters and son-in-law John Holowaty and grandson Lonnie Holowaty. Annie leaves to mourn her passing her four children: Mary Holowaty; Walter (Barb) Melnychuk; Nettie (Les) Fink; David (Dawn) Melnychuk; grandchildren: Carol, Shelley, Randy, Brad, Neil, Cheryl, Fenton, Clint, Devin, Tyson and Jai-Lyn; 14 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Elsie Karmaznuik and numerous nieces and nephews.
