Obituary
Prayer Service: Friday, January 22, 2016 7:00 p.m. Narfason's Funeral Chapel Wadena, Saskatchewan Funeral Service: Saturday, January 23, 2016 11:00 a.m. Wadena Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wadena, Saskatchewan. Interment to follow at the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Wadena, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Rose Wilchynski was born on September 17, 1926. She was the fifth born child to Martin and Mary Zimrose. Rose passed away from this life on January 16, 2016 at Golden Acres Nursing Home with her devoted children by her side. She attended Zazula school where she completed her grade 8. Later on taking correspondance classes to obtain her grade 11, to follow her dreams of becoming an Licensed Practical Nurse. She was unable to complete her nursing as she was called home to looked after loved ones. Rose worked on the family farm and later met Martin Wilchynski and soon they were married. To this union, five children were born; Evelyn, Jean, Shirley, Erwin, and Terry. They worked together on the farm while raising their children. Martin passed away on January 19, 1979. Rose had many life decisions to make. Returning to the work force she immediately found work at Pleasantview Care Home in Wadena, where she took great pride in caring for others. She worked there for ten years before she retired. Her second big decision was building her own home in Wadena, where she resided for many years. She was also proud of the purchase of her own very first car. Rose’s heart and home were always open to her family, and friends. Rose had great faith, she was a member of, St.Michael’s Church, in the Ponass Lake district, where she attended and was also president of the church committee. When the church was struck by lightning, she worked diligently to make sure it was restored to its original form. When she moved to Wadena, she joined the, Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church. She spent many hour volunteering there. They made perogies, cabbage rolls, and helped cater for fowl suppers. She continued this until her health failed and could no longer do it. Rose’s children meant the world to her, and later on took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A great piece of Rose’s heart went with the loss of her grandson Robin Wilchynski and later, her precious son, Erwin Wilchynski. Rose was predeceased by; husband, Martin Wilchynski; son, Erwin Wilchynski; grandson, Robin Wilchynski; son-in-law, Mike Korchynski; sisters, Katie Wonsiak, Nellie Wowczuk, Alice Zimrose; brother, Steve Zimrose. Rose is survived by; daughter, Evelyn (Mike Korchinski-deceased) children, Kelly Ries, Kevin Ries, their father, Bill Ries; Lavonne Ries wife of Kevin, their children, Tyler, Ryan, Lexi; daughter, Jean (Dale Knisley); daughter, Shirley (Dale) Bahm, children, Kimberly (Collin) Dennison their children, Conor, Leif, Annika, Mark (Candace) Bahm their children, Brayden, Keara, Tyler, Robin (Stephanie Miller), Stacy (Jayden) Aitken their children, Eddie, Mason; son, Terry (Brenda) Wilchynski their daughter, Jaylene; Sisters, Anne Stasiuk, Doris Kerluke, Lena Sarada, Helen Fisher, Pat Pluhator; brothers, Nick Zimroz, Mike Zimroz, Alex Zimrose, Mel Zimrose.
