In MEMORY Augustin Kaltenbach August 19,1926 – April 25,2017 With more sadness August family in Canada and Germany announce the passing of their dear father grandfather and great-grandfather on April 25,2017 in Simonswald, Germany. Augustin Kaltenbach was born to Augusta (Fischer) and Johann Baptist Kaltenbach on August 19,1926 in Simonswald, Germany. He was the third youngest in a family of six. He loved music and played the accordian. After completing school he was drafted in WW 2 at the age of sixteen in 1942. Then captured in East Germany by Russia, and forced to work in Siberia as a prisoner of war until his release in 1949. He said he walked from Berlin Germany to Moscow Russia in WW 2. After 1949 he worked for the Government of Germany as a supervisor of woodcutters who worked in the Black Forest near his Simonswald home. He continued that job until his retirement in 1986. On November 17. 1951 he married Anna Fehrenbach of Simonswald, Germany at the St. Margen Catholic Church in the Black Forest mountains near Simonswald, Germany. Augustin and Anna raised 5 children and one grandson Sascha when he was weeks old when his mother passed away unexpectedly. Opa was not an avid traveler and preferred to only venture short distances within Germany. He enjoyed mountain walks and could be seen driving on his 25hp Gueldner tractor. Opa as he was affectionately called by grandchildren lived at Simonswald until going to a retirement home in Furtwangen Germany in 2015. Opa was a kind and gentle man and had a wonderful smile to greet family and friends. August will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and all those who knew him. He is survived by his brother Franz (Erika) Kaltenbach and family , and numerous relatives in Germany and Canada. His son Bernhard(Notburga)Kaltenbach of Star City, Sask. Canada Grandchildren Betina, Sebastian, Victoria and Manuela and their families. His Daughter Rosemarie(Markus) Fehrenbach of Furtwangen, Germany Grandchildren Michael, Konrad, Verena and Sonja and their families. His Daughter Anna (Rainer) Hoss of Freiburg, Germany. His Son Wilhelm (Lynne Kiland-Kaltenbach) Kaltenbach of Wadena, Sask. Canada Grandaughter Kirstyn. His Son Klaus(Martina)Kaltenbach of Simonswald,Germany Grandchildren Sascha and Eva and their families. He was predeceased by his father in 1948 and his mother in 1957 numerous siblings and extended family. Grandson, Daniel Kaltenbach (Wilhelm’s) son at age 8 months in 1984 in Germany. Daughter in law Barbara Kaltenbach (Klaus 1st wife) in 1986 in Germany. His loving wife of 65 years on January 26, 2017 in Germany. Funeral Services will be held for Augustin Kaltenbach at St. Sebastian Catholic Church Simonswald, Germany on May 3, 2017. He will be buried beside his wife at the church cemetery.
