Obituary
Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017 Elfros Community Hall Elfros, Saskatchewan William John Richard Bateman was born March 19, 1927 on his parents’ farm near Leslie, Saskatchewan. He was the third of four siblings born to Jack and Lula Bateman. Bill attended the Quill Valley one room school on the land that is now part of the family farm. He then finished what he decided was the end of his education at the Leslie School. He spent a short time in Toronto and Abbotsford before he met Marian and settled on the family farm west of Leslie, SK. Prior to becoming a farmer, he worked at the Good Year Rubber Factory, sewed airplane seats, and worked as a farm hand. Bill and Marian were married on October 20, 1956. They were blessed with two sons, Allen and Glen. They enjoyed many winters down south in their 5th wheel trailer, and formed many lasting friendships over the years both at home and away. Bill could always be found around the farm, either woodworking or fixing something in the shop, and he was never too busy to stop and enjoy a visit with anyone who stopped by. He loved to spend time with his five grandchildren and could never say no at the candy store. Left to cherish his memory are Allen (Dorothy) and their children: Melissa (Stephen) Holbrook; Scott (Amber); Lindsay (Mike) Aldcorn; Glen (Joy) and their children: Chris (Kelsey); Dani, as well as great grandchildren; Mason, Piper and Anna Holbrook; Jack Bateman; Lily and Max Aldcorn. Barry (Terri) Bateman, David & Neil and families, as well as Sharon Clarke and family.
