Gail Freda Vivian Gourlay passed away on July 5th, 2016 in Ponoka, Alberta at the age of 62 years. Gail was born on October 1, 1953 in Russell, Manitoba, and was the 4th child to Wilfred and Freda Vivian. Gail grew up with her siblings Ernie, Art and Nel mainly in Manitoba then in 1972 Gail moved to Alberta to be closer to her brother Ernie. She then met and married Jim Gourlay and from this union had 3 children; Jeffrey, Leonard, and Holly. Later Gail would proceed as a single mother raising her 3 children. In 1991 she was accepted into the psychiatric nursing program in Ponoka, where she settled, earned her nursing degree and worked mainly in the Brain Injury Units until her battle with Cancer began. Gardening was Gail's true passion as well as tending to her fish pond, cats and her many collections. She also enjoyed cooking, shopping, reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Gail will be lovingly remembered by her 3 children Jeffrey Gourlay, Leonard Gourlay, and Holly Kinnie (Brian), siblings Ernest (Marcelle) Vivian, Arthur Vivian and Nel Weedmark, 7 grandchildren (Logan, Alex, Erica, Brighton, Dalton, Henry & Ashton) and countless extended family and lifelong friends.
