Obituary
John Hawryluk passed away on March 16, 2019 at the age of 87 at the Golden Acres Long Term Care Home in Wynyard, SK. John was born at home on the family farm (NW22-30-16) in the Krasne District on May 10, 1931. He was the youngest in a family of seven children born to Anna (Bzdel) and John Hawryluk. John attended Evelyn School until grade six and then worked on the farm before venturing out to seek employment in his late teens. John found work in a bush camp in northern Ontario before moving back to Saskatchewan where he worked installing natural gas pipe lines in the early 1950’s. It was about this time when he met Stella Hlady; they were married on October 18, 1954. Together John and Stella began farming when they purchased a quarter section south of Wynyard. Over the years they were able to acquire more land that kept him busy until his retirement years later. John and Stella had two children, Lisa was born in 1957 and Rick in 1961. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed the independence and flexibility of farming. His other interests included picking mushrooms, attending auction sales, playing pool and three-spot with family and friends as well as trying his luck at various casinos throughout the province. Having his children and grandchildren over for a visit and meal, however, brought him the most joy. John was predeceased by his parents Anna and John; his wife, Stella; brothers Mike and Bill and sisters, Josie and Teenie. He is survived by sister Kay Cordick of Anmore, B. C. and sister Lena Stolarchuk of Wynyard. John will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his two children and their families: Lisa and Cliff Piller of Regina and their son Connor; Rick and Leona Hawryluk of Wynyard and their children Sydney and Carter. Those who knew John will remember his as a quiet friendly soul; he will be missed by all that knew him. Memorial donations in memory of John may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or to Golden Acres Auxiliary Fund, Wynyard, SK
