Obituary
For online streaming - Please Click Here Eleanor was a feisty, hard-working, creative and committed woman. She was raised on the family farm south of Foam Lake with her five sisters and attended a one room school in the Hazel District. Throughout her life, Eleanor worked mostly in the restaurant industry in Foam Lake, Regina, Kindersley and ran her own business “Eleanor’s Café” in Margo for many years. Briefly, she served as postmistress in Tuffnell. In 1961, she married Walter Honeywich and moved to the farm north of Tuffnell where she lived for 33 years. Here she raised a blended family, Gloria, Shirley, Brian and Geraldine. Eleanor applied her entrepreneurial spirit into the farming enterprise; raising chickens, ducks, pigs, milking cows, selling cream and eggs, gardening and supporting the general farming operation. The day to day routine of farm work was often broken by late night Three-spot card games with neighbours. After Walter’s passing, she maintained the farm for another year until moving into Foam Lake in 1994. While in town, she joined the United Church volunteering her culinary and service skills and maintained a well-kept yard that beautified main street. When her health deteriorated, she transitioned to St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville where she made new friends and was holistically cared for until her passing. We remember Eleanor as proud, independent, conscientious and resilient who made the most of what she had. She was adamant about her opinions and spoke her mind openly. Her life was a testament to creativity. It flourished through her legendary cabbage rolls, perogies, and pies to her artful crochet, knitting and sewing projects and in her masterful gardening. To Eleanor, every day had a purpose and on her last day surrounded by her family, a simple tear acknowledged how love lives on. Eleanor is survived by her children Gloria Kerluke (Bernie), Shirley Pepper (Hugh), Brian Honeywich (Sheri) and Geraldine Honeywich (Pat); grandchildren Craig, Blair and Glenda, Sarah and Stephan, Rylan and Kaden; sisters Hilda Streelasky (Orest), Vivian Harper (Jim) and Gena; and brother-in-law Terry Harper. Also, she has many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Walter Honeywich; her twin sister Marion Gafencu; sister Gladys Harper; and niece Lisa Streelasky.
