Obituary
Audrey Beatrice (Burnett) James was born in Houston, Scotland, on October 14, 1914. The family immigrated to Canada when Audrey was 12 years old and settled in the Mt. Hecla area to farm. She married Donald James and they remained farming in the Mt. Hecla area. Their first son, Christopher, was born there in 1939. They later moved to Leslie, SK where they had two more sons - Bruce and Donald. Donald sold grain for Federal Grain while Audrey was kept busy with their three sons, gardening and being involved with town activities. They were both ardent curlers. In 1956 Don passed away and Audrey moved to Foam Lake with sons Bruce and Don, Chris by then worked in Vancouver. She was employed at Grahams Drugs where she met many people and gained very good friends. She worked there till her retirement. She was very active in numerous clubs and was on the Foam Lake Housing Authority for years. She was an active member of the Foam Lake United Church, choir member, UCW and all activities within the church including the rummage sale, fowl suppers, teas, etc. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Donald, son Bruce, sisterse Jean, Tommy (Irene) and Iris and brothers Jack and Eric. Audrey had ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She had a special feeling for each and every one of them but she called all of them "lovey"! If any of her family mentioned her aging - she replied "I've had a good run!" She is survived by sons Chris (Gwen) of White Swan Lake, SK; Don (Beryl) of Calgary, AB; daughter-in-law Lil of Lockwood, SK; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Audrey was blessed to reach her 100th birthday on October 14, 2014 and celebrated it with over 70 family members and many friends. She lived in her own home until a year ago when she moved to Jubilee Nursing Home where she passed away peacefully on October 31, 2014.
