Donation's in memory of Alex may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Alex (Alexander) Makarow was born on August 9th, 1920 on the family homestead near Nora. He was one of thirteen children born to Peter and Hanna Makarow. He worked various jobs in his younger years and married Mary Gruszecki on November 20th, 1948. They settled down in a little two room house in Nora and lived there for ten years. They then built a home in Rose Valley where they spent the rest of his days together. In 1961 he became the care taker of the Rose Valley School until he retired in 1984. Alex was very involved in the community and served as a volunteer fireman for over thirty years. He was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. Alex enjoyed golfing, fishing, wood-working and curling. He spent time gardening and enjoyed playing cards. Alex always looked forward to having his family come home to visit. Alex will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Mary; children: Andy (Pat) Makarow; Henrietta (Sonny) Woo; Dean Makarow ; Mark Makarow; Luke Makarow and Loretta (Gerald) Friesen Grand children: Megan (Jeff) Sinden ; Kelsey (Will) Figuly; Terin (Spiro) Woo-Khouri; Alex (Lisa) Woo; Amanda Woo; Dustin Makarow; Tiffany Makarow ; Nicole Makarow; Cody (Leah) Makarow; Camilla Makarow Great-children: Reyna and Rylynn Pinfold.
