David Desjarlais passed away on January 5, 2020 in Regina General Hospital, Regina, SK, with his siblings and children by his side. David was born on May 14, 1959 in Wadena, SK. David was a kind, dignified, respectful and knowledgeable man. He was the rock of his children, he was traditional and spiritual. His belief in culture practices, NAC, sweat lodge, and being a pipe carrier allowed him to travel a long way to support and help people, hence the nick name, Hiker. He was Vice President of the First Nation Ceremonial Church of Canada. His belief and faith in Grandfather Peyote, led him thus far along with his beliefs traditionally and spiritually. David had a great sense of humor and made everyone laugh. He was outspoken and followed the red road of life. He adored, loved, disciplined and taught his children the best way he could. He was the matriarch to his children. David was predeceased by his mother Irene Smoke (Nippi); father Raymond Desjarlais; adopted parents Harry Stoney, Percy Poorman, Agnes Littletent, Martha Cachene, and Pauline Quewezance; brothers Calvin, Ivan, and Mathew Jr; Child (Ivanah’s identical twin); and adopted brother Sam Gray. David is survived by his brothers and sisters Hilda, Malcolm, Verna, Linda, Beverly, Jason, Darren, Clara, as well as adopted brothers and sisters. David was cherished, loved and survived by his children Yvette, Erica (Eugene), Lance (Tammy), April (Sheldon), Nicole (Glen Sr), Ivanah (Edmond Sr), and baby boy Elijah; adopted children Maynard Whitehawk Sr, Thomas Tsezzaze, Travis Harper, Lashiya Smoke; his dog to which was very special to him, Sophey; along with his numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
