Rose was born on the family farm, to Mike and Axania Bonar on Feb 2, 1928. She was the second youngest of 13 children. Rose married John Rokochy in 1945 and so began their life journey together. Rose and John were blessed with 4 children, Louis, Allan, Mitch and AnnaMae. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and home maker and she shared these skills with her children and grandchildren. Ukrainian traditions and meals were very important to Rose and Christmas and Easter were always special times. Her family traveled through storms at times to be at their home for Jan 6th Christmas Eve. These traditions have been passed down to her grandchildren which is evident when they talk about the food they make for Ukrainian Christmas Eve in their own homes. Rose loved nothing better than to be surrounded by her family and spent many hours pinching perogies, canning and baking pies filling the cold room and freezer with her specialties in anticipation of her children and grandchildren coming. She usually had a pot of chicken noodle soup simmering on the back of the stove when family arrived. Rose and John also made many road trips to visit their family. Rose had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh, many hours were spent around the kitchen table playing cards, “The Duck”, a family favourite, and of course getting up often to snack and eat. Rose enjoyed watching her sons and grandsons play hockey and could usually be found sitting in her favourite spot, behind the glass and right behind the goal judge, her husband John. Rose was predeceased by; her husband, John; her parents; son, Louis; daughter-in-law, Mona; and 11 brothers and sisters. Rose leaves to celebrate and rejoice in her memory; son, Allan (Charlene); son, Mitch (Donna); daughter, AnnaMae (Luke) Wyna; 12 Grandchildren, 9 grandchildren-in-law, and 21 great-grandchildren. One sister Mary Christenson, her extended family and many friends. God grant her eternal rest.
