Obituary
Memorial Service: Saturday, May 30, 2015 2:00 p.m. Wynyard Civic Centre, Wynyard, SK. Earl Wilfred Jordan was born to Wilfred and Margaret (Reid) Jordan on July 23, 1929 on their farm near Dafoe, Saskatchewan. He grew up on the farm with his 8 brothers and 1 sister. Earl and his brothers were always playing games, pranks at school, and playing fastball as a team. Later on it was hauling kids to ball, curling, crokinole, dancing and cards. Drawn by his shy, gentle nature and loving blue eyes the love of his life, Rose Kohuch became his wife on May 10, 1957. They began their journey together and he started working for a logging company near Nipawin, Saskatchewan where they began their family. They then moved back to the Kandahar area to work for Frank Longman farming. Following Frank Longman's accidental death Earl and Rose became a business team running the Early Rose Dinette in Foam Lake. With a family started another move was made ending up at Dafoe where he began driving school bus, and obtained the nickname "Smiley". It was at this time his real gift of being an expert carpenter became evident. It was also here that he had a great place to raise their five children and have a mini farm of his own. Growing and looking after a great garden and having animals and chickens was a satisfying past time outside of work hours. Many great times with family and friends were enjoyed at Earl and Rose's place. The family grew up and moved away but not for long as the carpentry genes returned to his back yard which also gave him easy access to the grand children, none of them growing up too far away. Earl and Rose also gave great care and love to their son Tom as he was eventually taken from us in 2000. Earl continued to enjoy fishing, camping and curling. One night putting everything into a great curling shot, he fell backwards and his life changed instantly. He returned 9 months later, a quadriplegic, to adjust to a life of not helping, but being helped. The next move was to Wynyard where he gained a bit more accessibility to motor around with the wheelchair, especially getting out for cards. Getting out for a drive was a highlight for him, especially if food was involved. A little cheating from the diabetic diet was an essential part of the event. And, as many of us, he bled green as an avid Rider fan, including an outing to the 2013 Grey Cup Championship Game. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Rose; his son Randy (Darlene) and grandchildren Nicolas (Cindy) and Marcie (Mike) and great grandchildren Carys, Leah, and Owen; his son Ron (Jackie) and grandchildren Mark and Rebecca, great grandchild Cullan Earl, and grandchildren Ryan and Grace; daughter Shelley (Miles); and his son Lance (Tess) and grandchildren Liam and Zane and their mother Lynette. Earl is predeceased by his son Tommy; parents Wilfred and Margaret; brothers Ron (in childhood), Frank, Bill, Ralph, Stan, Archie, John, Lloyd and sister Daisy.
