Obituary
The sudden passing of Rod Sigurdson occurred in his home in Saskatoon Saskatchewan in his sleep, on October 30th, 2018. Rod Sigurdson was born on July 8th, 1959 at the Wadena Union Hospital, in Wadena Saskatchewan. Rod was a loving husband, father, uncle, son, and friend. He was the oldest of six and held that role with honour and seriousness. He dedicated himself to the ones he loved, he was giving and selfless always keen to help others in their moment of need, and put others happiness before his own. Rod attended school in Elfros, Wadena, Caroline Robins, and Mount Royal in Saskatoon. During his school years, Rod played hockey, participated in track and field, and also developed a passion for wrestling. These sports allowed him to travel around Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Rod was a man who enjoyed the thrills that life provided him. His passion for flying planes emerged from his love for adventure. He was a commercial pilot who enjoyed going on several spur of the moment trips across the prairies. He made sure that his family and friends could experience the thrill and joy of flying. Rod’s love for flying and photography is what planted the seed for his company West Country Photo Ltd. He was a proud co-owner of West Country Photo Ltd. for 20 years. Rod’s work ethic was incredibly admirable. What set him apart from others was that he genuinely cared about people. He loved people; he was always the person to initiate a conversation with anyone he met. He had several occupations throughout his life; he was an EMT, heavy duty mechanic, Cook, business owner, Salesman, and financial planner. Rod married Audrey Balaski on September 29th, 1984. Later came their three children. One of Rod’s greatest joys in life was his family. He was a dedicated husband and father and was always the first to share how proud he was of his children's successes. He was extremely involved in his children’s activities. He was at every one of his two son’s hockey and football games and went to every one of his daughter's soccer games and dance recital’s. Rod was predeceased by his Grandparents, Robert Claude and Jesse Fisher, Siggi and Stina Sigurdson; brother Robert (Tim) Sigurdson (1996). Rod will be remembered in the hearts of: his wife Audrey; Children Ryan, Michelle, and Mark; His parent's John and Ethel Sigurdson; His Sister’s Grace Cunningham, Pam (Ralph) Redline and Patti Gustafson, and his brother’s Dean (Valerie) Sigurdson and Derrick (Lori) Sigurdson; His sister-in-law Carolyn (Floyd) Moltzan, His uncle Ron (Dorothea) Fisher; Aunt’s: Marg Hardman, and Sylvia (Don) Kennedy; his Nieces, Nephews, and many special cousins. For My Brother Rod I knew you for only such a short precious time So dear in my heart and often on my mind You cherished your life and you treasured your time You made us laugh and put our troubles behind Your love was felt by all of us you touched Rod I will miss you so very much… This day is to celebrate your life To treasure the love within its worth And every single life you touched While you were on this earth. We wish to pay our last respects While all are gathered here To thank you for your friendship And the memories we hold dear. It's been a privilege to have known you We were family, not just friends And we will carry you in spirit Until we meet again. In time… the heart heals, leaving us with memories …. not of our sorrow but of the love we have known Love your sister Grace
