Gordon was born in Wadena Hospital on July 23, 1949 to Olav and Annie Haarstad. He was the youngest of five children. He grew up on a farm near Margo along with his two brothers and two sisters. On November 4, 1967 he married Lynn (Braaten). Together they raised two children Blair and Stacy. Gordon was employed for years as a heavy equipment operator but he knew in his heart that this was not what he wanted to do. He loved working with wood and decided he wanted to be a carpenter. He took his training through the community college in Yorkton, and after three years received his journeyman certificate. He loved working in the garden and around the yard as well as golfing and curling. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he spent as much time as he could with them. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Olav and Annie Haarstad; two brothers Harvey and Erland; one sister Eileen; and two nieces Leanne and Jenna. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lynn; his children Blair (Mykaela) of Prince Albert, SK, and Stacy (Jarrett) of Warman, SK; 8 grandchildren Meagan (Josh), Alison, Morgan, Liam, Brittney, Brooke, Tristian, and Zane; his sister Annette; as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many other relations. Gordon will be dearly missed by everyone. God bless his memory among us.
