To the family, I am one of Don's Bowhunting buddies. We spent many happy days bear hunting in the northern forests and the Great Sand Hills of Saskatchewan. Volumes could be written about the great adventures we had. Don started bear hunting with a bow in the 1950's with his hunting partner (the Chief) Gary Thackery when they would go in to the forest north of Melfort with a car and a tent and camp in the bush. In later years this "camp" would expand to 8 to 10 guys and would move to Big River. There are many anecdotes about Don. For example when someone would complain about there being not mix, Don would always say "What do you mean no mix? There a whole creek full of mix right behind the camp." Vodka and water was all he needed. I have many photo albums which cover the twenty odd years we carried out this semi-annual ritual. A really big part of our life. Derek (Turkey) Lane, Jimmy Sauder, Barry Minor, Ray Mastel. Thanks for memories Don.
