Obituary
Diane Louise Walker passed away on September 6, 2020 in the Kelvindell Lodge, Kelvington, SK, at the age of 74 years. Diane was born on March 1, 1946, the daughter of George and Kathleen Kitar. She grew up on the family farm North of Nut Mountain. She loved being outdoors helping her Dad look after the animals, doing chores and riding horse back with her brother Warren, leaving Caren to do the house work. Diane didn’t like it when she was young. After her schooling, she moved to Wynyard to work at the chicken plant. Then on October 20th, she married Lloyd Walker. To this union 3 children were born: Cheryl, Clinton and Kevin. Diane loved to cook and bake. She would always have homemade buns baked in time for the kids when they got home from school. Sunday supper was always a roast chicken with stuffing or roast pork and Yorkshire pudding. Her stew was always a treat especially when she made dumplings and biscuits with it. She grew a huge garden which she froze and canned for her family to enjoy. She also loved working in her yard, caring for her flowers and cutting the grass. She was always busy as she also helped milk the cows on the family dairy farm. Her house was always spotless, so clean that you could probably eat off the kitchen floor. One pet peeve her children has, was an afghan blanket was used on the couch to keep it clean. It would always slide down when you sat down, and as soon as you got up it had to be straightened back in place. Her youngest son and grandsons loved to tease her but they also knew when she’d had enough, so they would find their Dad/Grandpa Lloyd and stay outside until they figured it was safe to go back in. She would grumble about them bothering her, but secretly she loved when they teased her. When Diane moved to Kelvington she would often be at the Bakery having coffee and goodies with her friends. She had to have her jeans on. Every time she went out her hair had to be perfect. “Does my hair look okay? ”... Yes Mom. Even after she moved to the Kelvindell Lodge she liked the girls to help her with her hair. She was very fortunate to have her extended family care for her (all the staff at Kelvindell) when her children couldn’t be there. She had many good friends at Kelvindell. Some of the extra special ones she would love to share her twizzlers and candy with. Her very special friend Anne, who never got upset when she didn’t play cards very well. She just kept teaching her how and Diane even won a game or two. Diane was predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd; her father George; her mother Kathleen; her brother Warren; and Lloyd’s parent Charles and Lena Walker. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Cheryl (Larry) Onyskiw, Clint (Kim) Walker, and Kevin (Bev) Walker; grandchildren Bradley, Justin, Kirby, Alana, and Brent; great grandson Nixon; sister Caren (Scott) Templeton; nieces Katelyn and Alisa; sisters-in-law Cheryl and Sylvia; brother-in-law Bob Walker; her cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as the best of friends and neighbors.
