Funeral for the late Helen will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 1:00 P.M Wadena Anglican Church, Wadena, Sask Interment to follow at the All Hallows Cemetery, Mozart District, Moazart, Ask In Lieu of flower's, memorial donation may be made in Helen's memory to the All Hallow's Cemetery Fund- Mozart, or the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Those wishing to leave online condolences or to sign the guest book may do so via this website. Helen was born on a homestead near Mozart on June 4, 1919, to Mary and Fredrick Chitty. Helen Finished high school in Wynyard and then went to normal school in Saskatoon. She taught briefly before entering three years of Nurses' training at the Grey Nun's Hospital in Regina. Helen moved to Camrose, Alberta after her graduation in 1946 and there she met her husband of fifty-one years, Gordon Elmquist. They were married in 1947 and lived in several smaller communities in Alberta before moving to Wynyad, Sask. They moved to Wadena in 1956 where they raised their family of four children: Larry, Barbara, Marie, and Alison. Gordon died in 1998 and Helen missed him greatly. Helen moved to Waneeda Park Lodge in 2010. Helen was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1998 and a great-grandson in 1994. She is survived by her son Larry (Sherri); daughters, Barbara (Bill) Johnson, Marie (Lindsay) Peterson, and Alison Graham; eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
