Obituary
Funeral Mass: Friday, December 20, 2013 2:00 p.m. Foam Lake Ukrainian Catholic Church Private Family interment to follow in the Foam Lake Cemetery The Life of a Good Samaritan - No one left Stranded Andy was born on the Family farm in the Jasmin district to Steve and Katie Antonishyn. He started school in Parkerview where they farmed for 7 years. In 1945 the family moved to the farm 8 miles south of Foam Lake where Andy attended Malby School and worked on the farm. After taking a mechanics course by correspondence in Edmonton, he returned to work for Dublanicas Massey Dealership. In 1955 he went into business with John Black for two years and worked for Southside Service for a time. He then bought the building on Main Street and started Andy's Body Shop. In 1957 Andy married the love of his life, Veronica Paley, of Theodore and on May 21st, 1959 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Janet. Working with Verna by his side, Andy continued on Main until he purchased the creamery building and opened Andy's auto and Truck Parts. In 2004 he semi retired to the garage next to his house. Over the last few years Andy's Lung and heart problems forced him to slow down a little but never made his quit. He carried on until the trip to the garage was to much, no problem, we'll just fix it up the coffee table. (Good for you, Andy, right to the end.) Andy always made time for everyone with mechanical problems, regardless of time of the day or how tired he was (many all nighters). His big heart, long stories and cheap prices made him a multitude of friends and acquaintances. Andy's life stood for generosity and hard work, and he will surely be missed by the family community that could on him to get them back on the field as fast as he could. He loved going to the U.S. trade shows, and his craving for more knowledge always benefit his customers ad sharing this knowledge and teaching others what he knew gave him great satisfaction. His only downfall was not being able to say no to anyone and always overbooking which got him in trouble more times than we care to remember. When he wasn't (which was rare) he always looked forward to and treasured hunting in the fall with his close friends. He never was on time by the guys were used to it and made sure he was in the truck when they left. He took up fishing the last couple of years with his son-in-law and was so proud of the monster walleye he got at Stoney Lake. Andy was a 30 year member of the Foam Lake Fire Dept. On one occasion the fire phone rang; Andy jumped from the table, ran from the house with Verna in hot persuit yelling, "your boots, you forgot your boots." The last ten feet before he passed on he walked on his own, laid down and passed away with his daughter Janet by his side (he did it his way). Andy, we will miss you tremendously. You will never be out of our minds or our hearts; our prayers will follow you to a better place. Andy, take a deep breath of that heavenly air, it's time to relax. Andy was predeceased by his mother Katie Nov.8, 1985; father Steve May 14, 1988; brother -in-law of the Paley family, cousins, and many friends. Left to mourn are his wife Verna; daughter Janet (Norm Fjellstrom); twin sisters Mary Kucheran and Ann (Steve Zarazun); numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; cousins and a multitude of friends and his special friend, his cat Sam. Donation's may be made in Andy's memory to the Foam Lake Fire Department. Those wishing to leave online condolences or to sign the guest book may do so via this website.
