Obituary
Jean was born April 6,1937, on the Lipka homestead near Fosston, Saskatchewan. She was the second of five children born to Katherine and Anton Lipka. Growing up with her older sister Pat, she worked alongside her Dad doing outdoor chores, baked with her Mom and cared for her younger siblings: Helen, Lucy and Walter. She attended Mallard and Moosehorn schools for grades 1 through 8, and Wadena for grades 9 through 12, graduating in 1956. At a barn dance on the Lemko farm she met a young man, Mike Tchozewski and they married on October 24, 1956. To this union of 58 years came 4 children: Donna, Donalda, Dalice and Michael; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. They raised their family on the Tchozewski homestead north of Clair, Saskatchewan. Jean had a great love for her family and worked very hard to provide for them. There was always an abundance of homemade meals made from the produce grown in her large garden. There was fresh baking and canned preserves made by her hands. Together, Mike and Jean raised farm animals and grain farmed as their children were growing. She spent time sewing clothes and knitting winter apparel for her young family. Family and friends were always welcomed to her kitchen table where she could create a delicious meal from simple, basic ingredients. Guests could enjoy a cup of coffee with a fresh baked bun or a piece of homemade goodie. No one ever left her table feeling hungry. Jean had a fondness for flowers. She took great pleasure in growing and admiring her flowers throughout the spring and summer seasons. During the winter months Jean enjoyed spending time watching curling on tv, game shows and having long telephone conversations with family and friends. 2014 was a year of many transitions for Mike and Jean. They retired from the farm and purchased a house in Wadena to be nearer to their daughters and closer to healthcare. Along with their belongings came a truck load of perennials that were planted around the property. The little yellow house across from the hospital was quickly transformed into a familiar and comfortable space resembling the farmhouse that they shared together. This home became a source of great pride for Jean often commenting, “It is a perfect, little house for me.” Throughout her life, Jean practiced her faith in God through the good times and bad, attending church, studying the bible and reading daily devotions. Jean passed away on September 14, 2019 at the age of 82, with her family lovingly by her side. Left to cherish her memory and mourn her passing are her children: Donna (Kelly), Donalda (Dennis), Dalice (Rick) and Michael (Barb). Grandchildren: Tara (John), Marty, (Jenn), Shawn (Rachel), Chad, Christopher (Deanna); Taylor, and Hunter. Great-Grandchildren: Pryce, Kaine, Levi, Lexi, Aiden, Rayna, Alana, Owen, Michael, Zach, Deklan, Blake and Daxton. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Anton and Katherine Lipka, husband Mike, Mike’s parents and siblings, brother Walter Lipka, and grandson Devon Holter.
