Obituary
As per John's wishes, a private family service will he held at a later date. John Lawrence Mikush was born in Wadena on September 26, 1929, he passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 7, 2017 at the Kelvington Hospital. John attended Normania School, once he finished, he farmed with his dad. He took a mechanics course in Edmonton and then worked as a mechanic in the winter and farmed with his dad the rest of the year. He then went to Ontario to work for a couple of winters. In Ontario is where he met his future bride Mary Bacik. Within the year they got engaged, and were married on June 8th, 1957 at the Holy Family Church in Wallaceburg, Ontario. They moved back to the family farm in Margo where they started to raise their family. John enjoyed working on the farm; they raised five children and one on the way when in August of 1963, John lost his arm in a farming accident. Neighboring farmers came together to compete the harvest. Losing his arm did not stop John from doing what he loved doing the best, farming. They had four more children, 6 girls and 4 boys in total John’s favourite pass time was to take off in a vehicle, and drive the country side enjoying the scenery with Mary and friends. His passion was his collection of tractors which took him travelling across Canada and the USA. John was a member of the Rural Telephone Board in Margo. He served 12 years as councilor for the R.M of Sasmen where he served on many boards. John is survived by his wife Mary (Bacik) of almost 60 years; daughter, Sharrie (Ken) Wesolowski of Saskatoon; daughter, Sheila Peever of Colonsay; daughter, Pamela Malischewski of Kuroki; son, Thomas Mikush of Margo; daughter, Cynthia Mikush of Yorkton; daughter, Shawna Pfeifer (Marty) of Esterhazy; daughter, Danita Mikush of Saskatoon; son, John Jr. (Cathy) Mikush of Margo; son, Kelsey (Lori) Mikush of Wadena; son, Monte Mikush (Tara) of Grenfell; grandchildren; Christoper (Christine), Shaun (Jennifer), Kourtney (Laurie), Stephen (Jennifer), Derek (Suzanne), Eric, Sheldon, Angie (Trenton), Aaron (Shannon), Ashlie, Alicia (Brett), Glen, Regan, Dustin; great-grandchildren; Kaden, Kayla, Blake, Amy, Mathew, Lina, Nicolas, Aurelia, Rylan, Kellan, Weston, Prestyn, Robbie, Dylan, Alex, Deion, Keelan, Parker; sister, Mary Thomas of Abbotsford, B.C.; sister-in-law, Anna (Martin) Vitek of Tupperville, Ontario; Helen Jones of Wallaceburg, Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by parents, Lawrence and Ludmila Mikush; sister, Cecelia Leoppky; grandson, Jeremy Mikush; brother-in-laws, Ernie Thomas, Jake Leoppky, and James Jones.
