Obituary
Borgie was born on September 17, 1927, on a farm three miles from Rose Valley, Sask. to Norwegian immigrants, Hans and Marie Lovstad. She was the second youngest of seven children and attended Pipestone Creek and Nut Lake Schools to grade 8. She completed grades 9 and 10 by correspondence, and moved to Ardath, Sask. for grades 11 and 12, while staying with her Uncle Harry and Aunt Alvilda Jones. After high school, Borgie worked at Milden Hospital as a nurses aide before entering the Saskatoon City Hospitals School of Nursing in March of 1947. She graduated in 1950 and then worked at City Hospital for one year. After that, she worked for three years at Unity Union Hospital before coming to Wadena Union Hospital in 1954. On July 6, 1955, she married George Wesa and they had three children " Hartley in 1956, Eleanor in 1958 and Kevin in 1963. She worked part time at the hospital when the children were small, and then worked the evening shift for nine years. In the fall of 1975, she started working with Shamrock Ambulance, and after 17½ years, retired on March 31, 1993. She cared for so many people in her capacity as a nurse and is well loved and remembered in the community. She was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Hartley (Sharon) lives in Calgary. Eleanor (Dale) of Winnipeg have three children " Karyn (Mandy); Katrina (Brandon), Ryan, Grace and Ava; and Jennifer. Kevin (Brenda) of Calgary have two children " Jeffrey and Carley. She was always so proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After retirement, Borgie became very involved in the community, the UCW and many other events and fundraisers. This became an important part of her life. She especially liked to play scrabble with her friends. She also continued her close relationships with her family and especially her four surviving sisters " Hannah, Norda, Evelyn and Elna. She was predeceased by her oldest sister Margit and only brother Arne. She was also predeceased by her husband George in 1980. After a lengthy struggle with a chronic lung disease, Borgie slipped away from us peacefully on January 5, 2013, surrounded by her children. Borgie has enriched our lives, cared for us and given us strength. She was a great person and we are all fortunate to have known her. Funeral service for the late Borghild Wesa was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 1:30 p.m at the Wadena United Church, Wadena, Sask.
