Edith Lilian Fichtner, born May 1, 1927 passed away peacefully at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. Lilian grew up on the Harvey farm south of Dafoe where she attended Foote School. She went on to receive her Nursing Degree at Saskatoon City Hospital, graduating in 1950. On January 28, 1953 she married Lloyd Fichtner and together they raised three children. During her nursing career Lilian worked at Wynyard Hospital, Golden Acres Nursing Home, Midway Ambulance and Wynyard Home Care. Lilian always enjoyed the family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. Lilian was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, parents Charles and Edith Harvey, sister Enid (David) Blyth, and brother Arthur (Marie) Harvey. She is survived by her three children: Howard (Bernice) Fichtner and their children Aaron and Ashlynn; Edith (Terry) Pidkowich and their children Steven and Stephanie; and John (Thora) Fichtner and their children Andrew and Mathew (Darylea Anderson) and their son Dayton. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Yvonne Heistad, Bill (Marlene) Fichtner, Don (Lucille) Fichtner, Joan (Mike) Squires, Jim (Connie) Fichtner, numerous nieces and nephews; her aunt Lillian Cornell and cousin Lou Tait. Donations may be made in Lilian's memory to the Wynyard Pleasantview Cemetery or the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary.
