Donation's in memory of Harold may be made to the Elfros Village Cemetery Fund. Harold Johann Lindal Stephanson, our Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the age of 87. Harold was born December 18, 1927, on the same farm where he spent his entire life. Harold attended Elfros School for grades 1 to 12 and the University of Saskatchewan for Agriculture before meeting the love of his life, Muriel Hermiston. They were married June 10, 1952 and raised five children: Mark, Doug, Gord, Dianne and Lynne. Harold had always been a damn good farmer, working first with his Dad and brothers and then his own children. He appreciated the importance of all farm jobs - from driving tractors, to hauling grain, or bringing coffee to the field - and ensured the entire family was included in the work. He was forward thinking, and very interested in new methods, equipment and marketing. He would care and watch over his crops. Throughout the years, he and Muriel would go for a drive every day to check crops'. Ultimately, he taught his family the value of an honest day's work and the value of approaching all jobs, big and small, with equal attention and focus. Harold was the definition of a family man and constantly promoted the importance of spending time together. He was very proud of his expanding family and was quick to share how special each member was, ancestor, descendent and in-law alike. He was especially proud of his Icelandic heritage and to share mulisuppa with his family, taking the time to attempt to teach each child and grandchild to break sugar lumps to compliment the cup of rich, black coffee. Harold was full of quick wit and found humour in the simple things, collecting anecdotes from everything he encountered to share in every visit. Harold was very active in his life. He ran a bin building business with his son Doug, spent every winter sledding, and hunted for big game every season. However, he would always take the time to enjoy a cup of coffee with family and friends and looked forward to visits at the local coffee shop with his neighbours to catch up on the local happenings and match' for coffee. He was passionate in both his politics and his community, served on several boards including the Co-op board, Rink Board, School Board as well as volunteered and participated in many Elfros community events. Harold was well-spoken and wise, with a logical way of looking at life and all situations. His thoughtfulness and kindness will be greatly missed. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Eric and Thorbjorg; sister, Kristine; brothers Barney, Eric and Stephan; son Douglas; sons-in-law, Mike and Scott. Harold is survived by his loving wife Muriel of 63 years; son, Mark (Linda); Stacey (Norm), Madison, Andrea; Crystal (Glendon) Liam, Elyse; Mandy (Corey), Maya, Hailey; Kristin (Brayden); daughter-in-law, (Belle), Carrie (Clayton), Candice; son, Gord (Lana); Lindsay (Dave), Olivia, Hudson; Meagan (Adrian), Alex, Molly; Adam (Julie) Wren; Luke (Kaylee), Lachlyn; daughter, Dianne (Terry); Jackie, Sam, Bonnie; daughter, Lynne; Nicole, Alan, Eric, Nadine; Sisters, Elin and Agnes; sisters-in- law, Kathleen, Stella; Verna (Frank); brothers-in-law, Gordon and Harold; many nieces, nephews, and very dear friends.
