Divine Litugy for the late Walter Haluk was held on Monday, December 3rd at 10:00a.m. in the Sheho Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Internment to follow at a later date. He was born on the family farm near Sheho, SK,to Wasyl (Bill) and Avdokia (Katie)?Haluk. Walter received his education at McNam School. He started his working years at the Mink Ranch in Sheho, then went on to work for Kuprowski Bros. Construction where he happily spent 25 years doing road construction and tinkering with caterpillars. After that, Walter spent nearly 13 years as the maintenance man for the Village of Sheho. He took great pride in keeping the town looking its finest, as well as keeping the town running smoothly. Walter finished out his career at the Sebulski Farm for 20 years. Walter was a hard working man who sacrificed unselfishly for his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; you could often catch him down at the store buying goodies for them when hed hear they were coming for a visit. Walter was most passionate about horses and cattle; he loved to watch the chuckwagon races whenever they would come to town, and he affectionately called his cattle his babies . When Walter wasnt out offering a helping hand, you would find him tinkering or fixing something in his garage, only taking a break when a friend would stop in to say hello. He always looked forward to Ukrainian Christmas, because that meant his family would be together to play 3-spot, listen to the carollers, and laugh over stories told and memories shared. Left to celebrate Walters life are his children:?Marlene (Bob)?of High River, AB, Lesley of Kelvington, SK, Wendy (Tyler)?of La Riviere, MB, Richard of Taber, AB, Chester (Ashley)?of Invermay, SK, Cindy of Calgary, AB, Dwayne of Vernon, BC. He also leaves behind brothers, Ziafred (Emily) of Sheho, SK and Ed of Toronto, ON and his sister Mary of Courtney, BC as well as his sister-in-law Iris Haluk of Saskatoon, SK along with numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents Wasyl (Bill)?and Avdokia (Katie) Haluk, and his brother John and sister Caroline.
