Obituary
Bertha Byman, wife to Wilfred Byman passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. April 14th was their 57th wedding anniversary. Prayer service: Monday, April 20, 2015 7:00 p.m. Narfason's Funeral Chapel Wadena, Sk. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, April 21, 2015 11:00 a.m. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Wadena, Sk. Donation's in memory of Bertha may be made to the Wadena Health Action Group. Where to begin Bertha was a women of many thoughts and she wasn't afraid to say them. It's the one thing that all of us can attest to. There was a heart of gold under that rough personality. She didn't show it with hugs and kisses, that just wasn't who Bertha was. But everyone knew they were loved. Loved by her many gifts, endless giving, and whether we liked it or not, her telling it like it is. Bertha was born to Gustav and Stella Labanowich, south of Fosston, at the family farm, on July 18, 1936. She grew up and attended school in Fosston. After school, Bertha worked in the Wadena Union Hospital before she met Wilfred. On April 14, 1958 Bertha married the love of her life, Wilfred Byman. They moved to Lynn Lake for a year, then returned to Kylemore where they would begin their life journey together, farming and raising four wonderful children. Bertha loved to garden. Every year for the last few, she would say, "I'm not going to plant a garden this year, I had enough of that" but every year you could find her picking weeds and hilling potatoes. Bertha was famous for her dill pickles, cabbage rolls, and canned chicken. Married for 57 years, Bertha and Wilfred shared a wonderful life together, barely apart for anything. Looking back, the family is so glad we had a chance to celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary the weekend before, as Bertha passed away suddenly, on the actual day of their anniversary. Bertha will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Wilfred; children: Todd; Brenda and her family, Brett, Brittanny (Trevor); Marty (Shelley) and their family, Larissa (Carey), Tyler (Kori), Cody (Jaclyn), and Jared; Stuart (Susanne) and their family, Jonas, Tyson, Winston, and Adrian; two great grandchildren: Hayley & Harlow. Sister-in-law, Doris Byman; brothers-in-law, Keith (Mary) and Eugene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her parents, Gustav and Stella Labanowich; father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Mabel Byman; brothers, Walter and John Labanowich; sister, Jeannie (Alex) Malowchuk; sister-in-law, Beth Byman; and nephews, Terry & Philip Malowchuk.
