Obituary
1:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 Foam Lake Community Hall Foam Lake, Saskatchewan Peter Franklin Wunder was born February 5, 1946 at the Foam Lake Union Hospital, he was the only son of five children born to Cecil and Kathleen Wunder. Peter was raised on his parents farm along with his sisters Phyllis, Lois, Rheta and Heather. After completing high school Peter drove semi-truck in the North West Territories where he met the love of his life Leslie Theresa Carter. Peter and Leslie were married April 17, 1971 and moved to the family farm by Sheho where they raised their three children. As a family they spent many winters at the Tuffnel curling rink as well as many weekends with neighbors, friends and family playing games, visiting, camping, sharing meals and of course having drinks. Peter and Leslie were very close to all of his sisters, brothers-in-law and nieces, spending most holidays together as one big family, filled with laughter, food, card games, and of course the odd disagreement. Peter and Leslie sold the farm in 1984 and moved into the town of Foam Lake where he was employed by the RM as a grader operator and later with K-line construction as a plow cat operator, a job that he loved right to the very end. In 1991 Peter, Leslie and Allison moved to Regina so he could be closer to work. In 1994 Leslie lost her battle with breast cancer. Peter struggled for many years after losing Leslie. It was during this hard time that he became a grandfather to six grandchildren that he was very proud of, Samantha, Brody, Cole, Rourke, Blake and Torin. Peter reconnected with his high school sweetheart Connie Howe. It was obvious to family and friends that this relationship brought the sparkle back to his eyes and the zest of life to his every day. Peter unexpectedly and tragically lost Connie April 15, 2008. After this loss he moved into his current home in Foam Lake and wasted no time completely renovating the house to suit his needs, as he did with every home he owned. The last years of Peter's life he spent his summers working at Highway 1 Construction operating heavy equipment , and his winters were spent with many good friends and family scouting for wildlife, sharing meals, watching curling and celebrating all of life's ups and downs. Peter will be remembered by all for his honest words, sense of humour, generosity, and heart as big as the saskatchewan sky. Peter was predeceased by his father Cecil Wunder; mother Kathleen Wunder; wife Leslie (Carter) Wunder; brother-in-law Daniel Umpherville; fiancé Connie Howe and uncle Clifford Wunder. He is survived by his daughter Tanda (Randal Buhr) Wunder-Buhr and their children Rourke and Torin; son Peter (Alena Khalimon) Wunder and his children Brody and Blake; daughter Allison (Scott Rushinko) Wunder and their children Samantha and Cole; sisters Phyllis Umpherville; Lois (Joseph) MacBeth; Rheta (Richard) Renwick; and Heather (Robert) Reich-Sander along with numerous nieces and their families.
