Isabel Jean Storoschuk (nee Lewis) was born October 3, 1942 on her father’s homestead at Nut Mountain, Saskatchewan. Isabel was the first surviving child born to Hugh and Marjorie Lewis. Her sister Elaine and brother John completed the family. Isabel attended Nut Grove School completing Grade 8, however in the 1950s further education required boarding in town and Isabel decided she would rather work than go to school. Isabel began working as a waitress at a café in Kelvington. She married Petro (Pete) Storoschuk in December 1961 and to this union were born four children, Marjorie, Elaine, Marilyn and Peter. Following the end of her marriage to Pete, Isabel returned home to live on her parent’s farm. In this new life Isabel found companionship in a new relationship with an old family friend Dennis Harron and while this relationship did not last in the long term, her youngest son Jesse was the welcome result. Isabel was a mother and homemaker with all the work that raising five children brings. In her day she grew large gardens especially liking to can fruit and jams and making absolutely delicious mustard pickles. From her parents she inherited a deep love of music. She loved to sing, old country ballads mainly, and could dance a mean round polka. She was a competitive card player with Canasta being her game. Isabel loved her cats and dogs, they were her loyal friends who were always there to amuse or comfort her. In later years Isabel enjoyed reading, television, bingo and as long as her health allowed, tea with her friends at the Lodge. Isabel was devoted to her parents and after her return home helped her Dad on his mixed farm where she remained until ill health sent her to stay with her daughter Marilyn. In 2006 she became a resident of Kelvindell Lodge where she remained until her passing on July 14, 2017. Isabel leaves to mourn her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marjorie (Allan) Zarowny: daughter, Janine Zarowny Elaine (Randy) Nygren: children Catherine, Trevor, Jennifer Nygren Marilyn Lawson (Tracy Kerr): son, Brandon Lawson Peter Storoschuk; children, Sonya (Nevaeh, Elaina and Lily), Nathan and Zachary Storoschuk; and wife (Sarah King) daughters, Raya and Maicy Storoschuk Jesse (Alana) Storoschuk: children Addison, Finley, Bridget Storoschuk. Isabel was predeceased by her parents and her brother John. Isabel will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
