Esther Hawreluik passed away July 15, 2015 at the Foam Lake Jubilee Home at the age of 88 years. Mom was born July 26, 1926 to parents Mike and Domina (Rosciski) Magera of Tuffnell. She was the third oldest in a family of fourteen and became a surrogate mother to her younger siblings. She received her education at Echo Lake School. In 1946 she was united in marriage to Nick Hawreluik and they began their married life on a farm east of Sheho where she would reside for the next 65 years. There she raised her family of 2 boys and 2 girls. She was the typical farm wife actively taking part in every aspect of running a farm, from stooking, milking cows, tending a big garden and picking berries. Along with raising her family, Mom was active in community affairs. She volunteered at many local functions. She was a member of the Ukrainian Ladies Aid, the Sheho Legion Auxiliary and the Sheho Legion Branch #356. Mom enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends and socializing with them was the highlight of her day. She loved making quilts and every grandchild or great-grandchild had at least one or two and her perogy factory was never idle - the numbers too many to count.
