Gone But Not Forgotten We sat beside your bedside, Our hearts were crushed and sore; We did our best to the end, Til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking, We watched you fade away; And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay. You left behind some aching hearts, That loved you most sincere; We never shall and never will Forget you, Father dear. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steves memory may be made to Wadena Hospital Palliative Care, Weneeda Park Lodge or the Wadena Golf Course. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1983; parents, Martin and Mary Zimrose; sons-in-law, Garth Hill and Zane Moroz; sisters, Kate Wonsiak and Nellie Wowczuk; sister-in-law Mary Zimroz; brothers-in-law, Martin Wilchynski, Paul Wonsiak, Paul Stasiuk and Bill Sarada. He is survived by his children, Donna Hill of Devon, Audrey Moroz of Winnipeg, Marcella Zimrose of Devon, and Darwin (Roxanne) Zimrose of Kindersley; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Marty (Cindy) Hill, Liam and Gabrielle of Edmonton; Marcia (Lee) Huber and Jeremy; Monica Moroz (Stephen Buors) and Ryder of Winnipeg; brothers and sisters, Ann Stasiuk, Mike Zimroz, Rose Wilchynski, Nicholas Zimrose, Alex (Mary) Zimrose, Lena Sarada, Doris (Bill) Kerluke, Pat (Borden) Pluhator, Helen (Emil) Fisher, Melvin (Maureen) Zimrose and Alice Zimrose; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Steve was born on January 8, 1918, on a farm in the Ponass Lake area, later to move with his parents to the current farmstead in the R.M. of Lakeview. He was the eldest of 14 siblings taking his schooling at Zazula School. He married Mary Kwiatkowski in 1946 where they farmed raising their 4 children. They retired in 1981 purchasing a house in Wadena. After Mary passed away in 1983, Steve found housekeeping difficult, however, he maintained this home until moving to the Weneeda Park Lodge in 2011. He continued curling, bowling, shuffleboard, pool and took up golfing to compete with his son and sons-in-law. He was always excited to be involved in theTuesdaynight league winning the prize for oldest golfer and being honored with a life-time membership at Wadena Golf Course. Steve has many trophies to show his passion for the sports in which he participated. He took great pride in his yard and garden, growing lots of flowers and vegetables. He always had raspberries to give away. Winter time saw him first out after a snowstorm either shoveling, sweeping or using the snow blower. He never let the snow pack under his car tires. Steve enjoyed the trips he took to visit family and friends in Ontario, the three prairie provinces, British Columbia, Florida and Arizona. Beginning in 1986, he travelled by bus to Winnipeg and Edmonton alternating between Christmas and Easter, spending time with children and grandchildren. He attended the graduation exercises of his three grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to attend special birthdays celebrated by his children and was able to attend all three family reunions. He especially enjoyed visiting over a cup of coffee downtown. He was an active member of the Wadena Ukrainian Catholic Church and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
