Obituary
Mildred Helen (Leader) Haw was born to Jessie and Ronald Leader on October 4, 1941 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. She grew up among 4 brothers, Allan, Delbert, Kenneth and Donald on her parents farm outside of Leslie. She attended Mount Hecla School where she received Grade Eight and completed Grade Nine by correspondence. She went on to attend high school in Foam Lake. It is during this time she met the man of her dreams. After graduation Mildred pursued an education in nursing at the Yorkton Union Hospital, fulfilling her father’s dream that she be a registered nurse. Over the next three years in residence, she developed many life long friendships. In 1962 she returned to Foam Lake to work at the Foam Lake Hospital, a career that lasted over 40 years, retiring in 2002. In July of 1963 Larry and Mildred were married. They together raised three sons, Kevin, Brian and Stacy and one daughter Sheila, in addition to nursing. Larry and Mildred were co-owners in the Ford Dealership (Foam Lake Motors from 1965 - 1975) and had taken over the family farm near Sheho in 1971. They still have the original homestead to date. Mildred took great pride in raising her family, maintaining her home, working and tending to her huge gardens both in town and on the farm. Her raspberry jam and dill pickles were among her family favourites. She also learned to drive the farm machinery. Her toddlers were adorned by her sewing marvels including her knitting, cross stitching and crocheting. She filled her days sharing with family and friends the many pictures she took, organizing them into scrapbook albums, and family history books, which she made for each of her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was watching how her family grew with many milestones and the birth of each generation, even being able to deliver her own granddaughter Janelle in the back of the ambulance bound for Yorkton. She devoted her life to the caring of others, but she still found the time to travel with her husband and enjoyed the many bus tours they took. She leaves to celebrate and rejoice in her life well lived: husband Larry; sons Kevin, Brian, Stacy; daughter Sheila; grandchildren Dustin (Stephanie), Chelsey (Devin), Dylan, Janelle, Colby, Madison; great grandchildren Rayna, Bently, Demetrious, Olexis and Colt and mother-in-law Mary Haw. She is also survived by: sister-in-law Ruth; brother-in-law Delbert (Gloria); Kenneth (Jean); Donald (Frieda); sister-in-law Shirley (Walter) Monych and their families. Mildred was predeceased by: her parents Ronald and Jessie Leader; father-in-law Wilmer Haw and brother Allan. The Haw family would like to extend a big thank you to all who shared in her life. For your support, caring thoughts, prayers, and hugs as we travelled through this journey.
