She is survived by her sister Eva Zimmerman and friend Helmut; sister in law Rita Lenz; sister Rosemarie and husband Rocky Lloyd; sister in laws Gertrude Thomas and Clara Fiege; and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Ingeborg was predeceased by her daughter Lorretta in 1977, her parents Albert & Elfrieda Lenz, brother in law Johann Zimmerman; brother Norman Lenz; and ex husband Otto Wornath. As well as numerous sister in laws and brother in laws. Ingeborg was born on April 23, 1926 in Berlin-Charlottenborg, Brandenburg, Germany to Albert and Elfrieda Lenz. She was the oldest of four siblings - Norman, Eva and Rosemarie. Eva was always there for her when she needed a friend or someone to call upon. In her younger years, she became a draftsman and designed airplanes during the war. She did fancy calligraphy writing for many people’s wedding books. She was very detailed in how she wrote and she would still write letters to everyone even though her sight was very poor. In 1951, her mom and dad and siblings immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in Halifax. They settled in Earl Grey and later to Regina. She got married in June 1953 to Otto Wornath from the Glen Bain area. They had four beautiful children - Lorraine, Theodor better known as Ted, Lorretta and Gloria. She loved the farm life and enjoyed her animals, but she especially loved watching the birds fly around her yard. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and flower garden. There were always lots of fresh veggies to go around for friends and family, but she always made sure there was enough to can for the long winters that came. She was involved with church activities, 4H and community events. She loved to teach leathercraft to many kids in the community. In 1979, she moved to Regina Beach where she purchased her own home where she lived until she passed away. She needed help the last few years but she always accepted a helping hand where it was needed. She enjoyed travelling and made several trips to Germany to visit family; including a trip with Gloria in 1996. She also went to Denmark and the Netherlands. She enjoyed square dancing, wood working, needlepoint, building bird houses, feeding the birds and loved getting mail. She always loved when the doorbell would ring because she knew there was a friend she could visit with. Whenever we would go to Regina Beach to visit Oma, we were always guaranteed to play endless hours of Backgammon. She taught everyone how to play, but you weren’t always guaranteed to win. She would teach us how to pay attention because if you missed your move she wouldn’t tell you, but she sure would laugh about it later after she had won. She never went easy on us as kids, but that just made the victories that much sweeter because we had finally defeated the Backgammon master. One of my favourite memories of Oma was when I was 8 years old and we had gone to visit her. Well her favourite wakeup call was turning on the local AM radio station and blarring it at 7 AM until someone had drug their butt out of bed to visit. Well that morning it was me who woke up. She was so excited that this trick worked and that she had someone to visit with. She made me a fresh breakfast that included a big piece of rye bread, with a thick slab of butter and freshly chopped chives and garlic from her garden. She then took me out to the deck where we watched the birds and she told me all about each and every one of them, while the rest of my family got their beauty sleep. Whenever we would go to visit Oma we were guaranteed a trip to go get her favourite Fish and Chips down at the Blue Bird Cafe. But if we didn’t go there we would help her get supper ready. She had her favourite seat in the kitchen and that’s where we would always find her peeling potatoes. As soon as Mom or Dad left the kitchen she would point us to her cabinet where she kept her treats, especially the sugar cookies from Germany in the blue tins. The best cookies out there by far!! Oma, please give Auntie Lorretta a big hug from all of us. A family internment followed the service at Trinity Lutheran Church at St. Boswell’s Cemetery. Memorial donations will be accepted by the family to the Trinity Lutheran Church General Fund in memory of Ingeborg Wornath.
