Graveside Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 Pleasantview Cemetery Wynyard, Saskatchewan Lily Victoria Allen passed away quietly in her sleep on August 22, 2017 at Golden Acres in Wynyard. She was born on the family homestead January 4, 1923 to Peter and Selma Nystrom and grew up on their farm in the Edgebrook District. She married Robert Allen on August 6, 1949 and they bought the family farm from Robert’s mother. They lived there until they retired to Wynyard in 1991. She later moved into Maple Grove and recently into Golden Acres. During her life, Lily enjoyed an exhilarating game of cards, knitting, building puzzles, family and friends. Lily will be long missed for her encyclopedic memory of history, relationships, births, and marriages of family and friends. Lily was predeceased by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband and many of her long time friends. She is survived by her three sons Bill (Chessy), Gerry (Verna), Barry (Cindy); grandchildren Cynthia (Curtis), Trevor, Melanie (Tom), Jason (Chaz), Chris, Stacy (Clayton), Corrie, Kirsten, Dana and eight great grandchildren. She also had a large extended family as she hosted many nieces and nephews for summer holidays at the farm. A small graveside service is planned for September 16 at 11:00 am at the Pleasantview Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome. Lily was a supporter of many different charities so in lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may make a donation in her name to a charity of your choice. A special thank you to the care-givers at Golden Acres for the compassion, care and support they provided during her stay. Also, thank you to Narfason’s for helping the family with all the arrangements at this difficult time. The family very much appreciates all of the kind words of sympathy, patience, care and support received.
