On August 20, 2018, Harry Szukaylo age 75 passed away peacefully at his home in West Bend, SK. He will be reunited with his parents, Martin and Mary Szukaylo, his mother and father in law, John and Mary Blazeiko, his beloved daughter, Cindy and his sister in law Emily. Left to cherish his memory is his wife and love of his life, Lily, his son Ken (Harmony), his grandchildren Kaylee and Kyle, numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. Harry was born in his childhood family home on February 6, 1943. He attended school across the road in West Bend where he would have first me Lily Blazeiko. Harry first bought land and started farming in 1960. Lily joined Harry in 1964 and together grew a family and the farm. Harry was a very generous man, willing to lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. He spent countless hours at Model Farm Church volunteering his time at almost all the events. Harry served as president ( “top dog” and “go-to guy”) of the Model Farm Church and Gravesite. When Harry wasn’t farming he would be found trolling for fish in his Mercury 2-stoke. Harry and Lily would often leave early in the morning to fish on the lake, but still return home to put in time on the farm. Stories were told of when Harry would interrupt haying to take Cindy and Ken fishing. He would motion to Lily across the field by reeling his imaginary fishing rod. Lily, knowing exactly what he meant, would stop, throw a lunch in a basket, grab the rods and within minutes they were all gone to the lake. Harry enjoyed getting together with family and friends. Halloween gave him the opportunity to spoil the kids with large treat bags filled with treats he had been collecting since September. Birthdays and anniversaries would put a smile on his face as he told stories about days gone by. Harry’s size shadowed in comparison to his kindness and love of friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
