Obituary
Lawrence Walter Daw was born on May 14, 1951 in Ituna, SK. His parents, Alfred Charles (Charlie) and Margaret Linnea (Mickey) Daw raised him on the farm just south of Jasmin, SK. He attended school in Jasmin then went on to Kelliher where he completed high school. After graduation he joined the work force and that took him around Saskatchewan and Alberta for the next 46 years. The majority of his working years were with the Department of Highways on the pavement marking crew out of Saskatoon. It was a job he loved and he met many life-long friends there. In 1975 he left Highways to return to the farm while his father was ill. He did go back to Highways in 1980 but the years on the farm were some of the happiest of his life. It was quite fitting that for the last couple of years he was employed for the summer months bouncing along driving a tractor and packer for Botkin Construction until his lay off in October 2015. In 1974 Lawrence married Arlene Rose and they made their home in Saskatoon for a few months before moving to the Jasmin farm in 1975. They then lived in Calgary for one year before settling in Leslie, SK. from 1980-2014 when they retired to Martensville, SK. Their two children Troy Lawrence and Jaclyn Charlene were Lawrence’s pride and joy. That pride and joy was multiplied greatly when his precious grandchildren joined the family. Bennett and Lily were born in 2010, Charlie in 2013 and Brody in 2014. They loved their papa (as much as he loved them) mostly because he was the “biggest teaser”. It breaks our hearts that he didn’t have the chance to enjoy watching them grow up. Family was a priority in Lawrence’s life. So many special times were spent with his sister Dolores’ family and sister-in-law Marilyn’s family. Troy and Jaclyn and their cousins grew up with a bond like that of siblings and it is for that reason that these special nieces and nephews are listed with the survivors. He loved watching the kids participate in their activities and took an active role as a parent volunteer. Some of Lawrence’s favorite things to do were curling, dancing, camping, wagon trekking and enjoying visits on coffee row. He was always ready and willing to help in the community and he thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Many hours were spent working and playing at the curling rink and helping at the hall. His sense of humor was second to none. Lawrence was a clown who loved to make people laugh and his laugh was infectious. It was guaranteed that when Lawrence was around there was never a dull moment. He could make you believe the most outrageous stories because he carried it on for so long you believed it must be true . . . then he would grin from ear to ear when he had duped you. Lawrence was a fun loving, hard working, generous man. He struggled through some tough times that ended in his peaceful passing in St. Paul’s Hospital on March 26, 2016 at the age of 64. We pray that he has finally found his peace and serenity. Lawrence leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Arlene, his son Troy (Leigh Ann) and their daughters Lily and Charlie; his daughter Jaclyn (Clark) Gliddon and their sons Bennett and Brody; his sister Dolores (Ernie) Hrynuik; nephew Brett (Michelle) Hrynuik and their daughters Chanel and Taryn; niece Angela (Adriann) Ekstrom and their children Austin and Elizabeth; niece Crystal (Riley) Morris and their daughter Linnea; mother-in-law, Bernice Rose; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Wayne) Johnson; nephew Randin (Tania) Johnson and their children Perrin and Quinn; niece Rhonda (Tyler) Hoseasson and their children Luke, Kyndra and Mason; niece Raelene (Jeff) Maunula and their children Chase and Teija; nephew Regan (Brianne) Johnson; aunts Edna Bindle, Sheila Pearson and Adele Pearson and numerous cousins as well as many extended family members. Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Mickey Daw; his grandparents Charles and Florence Daw and Eric and Agneta Pearson; his father-in-law Jack Rose and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2016 Graveside Service 1:00 pm Leslie Cemetery, Leslie Saskatchewan Following the service a lunch will be served at the Leslie Hall.
