Obituary
Glenn Allan Helgason Glenn Allan Helgason, born January 24th 1968, passed away on June 23rd, 2021 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. Glenn attended school in Foam Lake and was very active in curling, hockey, skiing (winter and summer), fishing, band and piano. Glenn took every opportunity growing up to be at the farm with his grandfather and father as he was keen to learn every aspect of the farm. Glenn went on to attend the University of Saskatchewan, obtaining his BSA and is a member of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists. While there he started to create his vision of a grain handling system and eventually made that dream come true with the support of his grandfather Joe and father Merv. Once Glenn completed university he went on to work for Farm Credit Corporation in Tisdale while still actively farming the Helgason farm. Glenn moved home and eventually took over running the family farm. During this time he expanded the farm operation, started a fertilizing and spreading business and was the CEO and owner of Milligan Bio-Agriculture Services. Glenn was as an active member of the Foam Lake Elks, the Powerfarm Group, and Foam Lake Marketing Club to name a few. He was very civic minded and went out of his way to support groups and organizations as he loved Foam Lake and wanted to see it continue to thrive. Glenn was always quick to lend a helping hand to people and businesses in the community from providing wheat for bouquets at Driftwood Alley to sponsoring the Flyers hockey games, or golf tournaments at the Foam Lake Golf & Country Club. Glenn enjoyed traveling to warm locations with his girlfriend Tanya. He often travelled to attend major sporting events with his sons and loved those moments together with them. He rarely missed events or gatherings with friends and family and loved to sit have a coffee with anyone who came by the shop. Glenn is survived by his sons Drew, Regan and Devin (Kayla) Sakaluk, his parents Mervin and Audrey and siblings Dale (MaryEllen) and Ellen. His nephews, niece and son’s children Sean, Ryan, and Lauren Helgason, and Asher, Greer, and Easton Sakaluk. Glenn is survived by aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Glenn leaves to mourn the mother of his children Bernadette Stettner. He also leaves to mourn Tanya Kosior- Meyers, Dustin, Jordan and Sydney. Glenn will take his final Helicopter flight to the Foam Lake Cemetery on July 5, 2021 where his graveside service will be officiated by his uncle, Reverend Alvin Hingley. The urn bearers are Drew and Regan Helgason. Honorary pallbearers are Brent Pankratz, Dennis Haw, Trevor Reynolds and Dale Kitzul who will also provide the Tribute. Scripture reader is Wendy Rogers.
