Obituary
Iris (Lazecki) Moroz was born on May 19, 1928 to Steve and Helen (Walchuk) Lazecki on the family farm south of Sheho. She received her education at Fosti School. From an early age Iris worked in the fields with her own team of horses. She often reminisced about her beloved horse Foxy. Iris was united in marriage to George (Toby) Moroz on July 23, 1950. They were blessed with one daughter Donna Mae. Iris will be remembered as a tireless worker, working side by side with Toby in all their business ventures. She joined him in the operation of the family mink ranch. They also owned and operated the Sheho lumberyard. Their business venture for 1973 - 1983, was owning and operating the Lintlaw Hotel. Her hard working, outgoing personality soon made lifelong friendships. Friday and Saturday nights were a big hit as well as her famous Denver sandwiches. In 1983, they retired back to Sheho, now having more time to visit with family and friends. Christmas in Dundurn was always a must as well as weiner roasts, garage sales and scratch tickets. Toby passed away in 1993 and Iris continued living in Sheho. She was an active member of the community and for many years she participated in all Legion affairs and activities. She enjoyed maintaining a beautiful home, yard and garden. Iris was very sociable and happiest when company would stop by for a “little shot” and snack. Iris dearly loved her grandchildren Brent, Deanna, Corey and her great grandson Devon. She always looked forward to and enjoyed all their visits and special phone calls. Their memories are the days spent with Baba and Gido at the Lintlaw Hotel. Toby and Iris were also big Saskatchewan Roughrider fans and she continued to cheer them on into her final days. Iris took on a wide interest in all her family, extended family and friends, especially the children with whom she had very special relationships. Because of her very generous nature she always liked to slip them a little something “just because”. Because of her declining health Iris became a resident of the Theodore Health Centre in 2015. The compassionate and caring staff always appreciated her feistiness and quick wit right to her last days. Iris will forever be remembered for her kind, caring, giving nature and we could always be sure she “said it like it was”. Iris was the last of the Lazecki/ Moroz family, she was predeceased by her husband George (Toby), son-in-law Ron, parents Steve and Helen, brothers an sisters-in-law John (Nellie) (Alice), Mike (Alice), Emil (Lena) (Kelly), Lawrence, Walter (Johanna). Also sisters and brothers-in-law Rosie (Bill) Sebulski and Angeline (Billy) Kurprowski. She was also predeceased by Toby’s family Eli and Annie Moroz, brothers and sisters-in-law Leslie (Rose), John, Bert (Alice), Maurice (Sac), Mary (Bill) Martyniuk and Elsie (Matt) Daciw. Iris will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna, grandsons Brent (Deanna), Corey and great grandson Devon. She was also known as Baba to Ron’s children and grandchildren. She will also be missed by all her special nieces, nephews, god children, and very dear friends and neighbors.
