Obituary
A Private family funeral service for John was held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Narfason's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Wadena, Saskatchewan Memorial donations may be made in memory of John to the SPCA. Those wishing to leave online condolences or sign the guestbook may do so via this website. John was born in Wadena, SK on May 10, 1943 to Jack and Annie Haskey. At an early age he displayed a natural artistic ability and could be found sketching pictures of his friends and animals. If he was ever pressured into drawing a picture of someone it usually ended up as a caricature of them. He passed his artistic talents on to his daughter, Bobbi-Jo. For several years John worked as a radio announcer in Regina, Lloydminster andThompson, Manitoba. One of his most memorable moments in radio occurred in the early 70s when he interviewed Pierre Trudeau during a short stop in Regina. He had to fight his way through a crowd of women who wanted to get close to Pierre. Although he was happiest working as an announcer he returned home to take over his fathers farm. John loved nature and animals. His family were often subjected to planting trees wherever he thought there was a need and all animals (especially dogs, deer and cattle) were treated with care. He was an avid reader and enjoyed mysteries, discussing politics, world affairs and travel. When his children were young he delighted in taking them on trips that he had enjoyed in his youth. Banff and Montana being his favorite. John is predeceased by his mother, Annie in 1960 and father, Jacob in 1997. He leaves to mourn his sons: Ryan (Natasha) Haskey of Saskatoon, SK; Derek Haskey of Saskatoon; and daughter Bobbi Jo (Mike) Galbraith of Milestone, SK and grandchildren Brycen and Aftyn Galbraith of Milestone, SK; and sister Anne (Henry) Boxall of Nipawin, SK. Celebrants: Heather Nakrayko & Keri Helberg Interment: To take place at a later date
