Obituary
Lorne Winslow, age 72, passed away on May 12, 2020, at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon. Lorne was born on September 23, 1947 to Ernest and Mildred Winslow at the Rose Valley Hospital. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Rose Valley. He took his schooling in Rose Valley and upon leaving school, he worked numerous jobs, most notably, as a caterpillar operator for N. C. Hilsen, Southey, and with Percy Iverson’s Saw Mill near Hudson Bay. In 1968, he was hired by KNAB Plumbing & Heating Ltd., Wadena, and took his apprenticeship training and plumbing and gas fitting at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon. On April 27, 1968, Lorne married Rosemary Nicholat at Christ the King RC Church, Rose Valley. On June 26, 1977, Lorne and Rosemary started L. W. Plumbing & Heating Ltd. where they remained in business until 2016. Anyone who knew Lorne knows how proud he was of his 30 years of sobriety. One of Lorne’s favourite pastimes was building and driving snow planes. One of which he donated to the Wadena & District Museum. He drove his snow planes much like he lived his life, no brakes, no reverse. Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mildred Winslow, nephew Christopher Winslow, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Rosemary, daughters Natalie (Trevor) Haugan, Renae (Brandon) Kircher; grandchildren Preston and Gabrielle Kircher; brothers Glen (Denise) Winslow of Saskatoon and Alvin (Myra) Winslow of Lacombe AB; brother-in-law Eugene (Valerie) Nicholat of Saskatoon; nieces, nephews and many friends. Lorne will be sadly missed but forever remembered through cherished memories. Donations can be made in Lorne’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Due to COVID-19 there will be a private family funeral service
